Hat's black jersey...(rough draft)

It should also be noted that highschoolers do notice this kind of thing. While we may have Superior facilities, etc etc there are players that do look at what we wear. That's one of the ways the game is changing.

I truly doubt top players are choosing a school based on fashion.

And it's not about changing the uniform, it's about changing it into a good uniform. I have yet to see one I'd buy (just my opinion)

I agree. And no offense to anyone, b/c beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But any suggestion to abandon perhaps the most powerful element of the UT brand (that shade of orange) is just not smart business. Like it or not, it's what makes UT, UT. It's iconic, and you don't throw away your icons.

For the record, I hate black as the primary color for anything other than arena football or the Witchita St. Shockers.

speaking of top players, at least we nailed down Wilks this week, he was good enough 3 star, but for some reason urban myers really wanted him.

I don't want to start a new thread on recruiting YET, but to get gerald williams in our LB corps would be huge......6'4" 245lbs. linebacker in the middle would be what we need to get back to. and I bet he would sign today if we had the black jerseys.....jk.

we need a poll to see how many ppl want black jerseys and how many ppl hate the idea of it. i'd be in the later of the 2

I'm not a fan of the black jersey at all(although the one on the previous page is not too bad-would look better in orange or white IMO), the black on the away jersey's is enough. As stated I would like to see the orange pants make an appearance now and again as well as the throwback away jersey for one/some away games.

If you don't believe kids look at what we wear and that it plays a small role in recruiting you would be mistaken. We have lost kids in the past b/c we wear Adidas and not Nike. It's not as prevalent in football as in basketball but I do remember hearing about it about 2 years ago with the recruitment of a kid for football.

i agree...don't like black jerseys, but I would like to see some some uniform combinations with the black incorporated in the helmet or outlined numbers, etc. we already have the black adidas cleats, it might actually look good to have a stripe or two up the side of the pants or thier black number (or "T")on their pants.

no black on the helmets, we have tradition, we already have black outlined on the away uni's. if we made any changes at all, i think someone has already said it, bring back the retro uni's like they did against unlv in '04

this is actually kind of intriguing. I think we'd have to change the helmet to black too though
Somehow Louisville is able to rock an all black uni with a white helmet. I don't think their helmet has any black trimming. Not even in the decal. The NCAA has banned the retro unis. We were only given a one time deal on that for tribute purposes.

6' 2" 215 WRs with 4.45 speed don't grow on trees.

And unless black jerseys improve Gerald's test scores, they'll play no part in getting him here

Leave the uniforms alone! Tennessee hits the field the nation knows it. We have one of the most recognized helmets in football. This black jersey thing is a joke! you don't mess with what ain't broke...I don't see Penn State, or USC, or LSU, or any other big time program wanting to change their uniforms...Thats stuff is Busch League and reserved for minor league Hockey teams needing sponsorship money!

The team and coaching is another story...The way they got owned by Cal and Florida Black and Blue might be a better option!
