Has there ever been a coach that became GREAT after being terrible his first 3 years?

Lack of talent can be improved to some degree. But how to evaluate your QB position, firing a respected DL coach after 3 1/2 games, meddling with every position group, and managing PR of the job won’t improve with more time.

One problem with hiring Saban assistants. They have zero interaction with the press. Granted, Jones was a snake. But was Pruitt ready for this?

He had also proven at Pitt that he could win as a head coach. Pruitt has proven next to nothing as a head coach

Not only that but Majors spun off a few high profile coaches in Jackie Sherrill, Phil Fulmer, Jimmie Johnson, and Dave Wannstedt.

Walt Harris and Joe Avezzono had modest success as head coaches. Fulmer, Cutcliffe and Zook had more success. And then longtime assistants Kippy Brown, Dick Bumpass, and Doug Matthews were solid.
