Since he'll be back next season.
And since he has earned it in the sense that he dug us out of the cesspool we were in and stabilized our roster.
And since our injury situation has been the worst I've ever seen.
And since changing coaches at this point runs the risk of getting worse and costing millions.
And since we are all still knee-jerking our anger at losing to a team of 2-3 *s again.
... he has my full support. But, all coaches have my support as long as they are coach of the Vols. Whether my opinion is that he should remain is another story. At this juncture, my opinion is that we need to stay put and make no change.
This recruiting class (projected), off-season coaching upgrades, next recruiting class progress, and next season's on-field performance should provide enough evidence and patience to determine if we need full change. Plus, it gives our new AD time to make plenty of "soft" contacts around the nation as we make that determination. Also, shows candidates that we are not making a "knee-jerk" firing, which creates a more desirable job for quality candidates. Everyone coach around the nation has seen UT's methodical rise out of the sewer. To fire Jones now, immediately, after that, sends really bad vibes. And, I am also not in favor of "blind change" right now. We are just now getting out of that situation.
One year on the hot seat may work wonders for our "never before fired" leader. Or it may collapse cause collapse. If the latter is true, then we have solid reason to know we need to make a change to someone who can take us back to the top.
