This looks just like what we went through in the mid '70s. We need guys that can come in and play instead of projects. We don't have an elite linebacker on the team or coming in. Maggitt is the only one who could challenge for a starting position at Bama, Florida, LSU, or Georgia.

I guess he just got lucky last year when we had a decent d he was second in tackles. AJ and Curt are both good ballplayers.

Our offensive recruits aren't bad especially if you add North and Truman to the mix. The problem occurs when you go to the other side of the ball. I just don't understand how you can make a case for some of these guys. Some of these guys have 2-3 SEC offers and they are usually us, Vandy, Ole Miss, or KY. That's pathetic. We have yet to get a shut down DB aka Von Bell. Miles is as good as gone to A&M. Zach Barns is a project on top of a project. Ben Bradley is the only DL we have that I can say will def see the field at some point in his career here. I mean come on guys... We have no great LB prospects and we have taken on more projects then ready to play players. We aren't just getting guys who need to beef up a little. We are getting guys who need to beef up a little and learn to actually play football an learn technique. Good luck since our coaches couldn't coach up Ray Lewis on the defensive side of the ball.

Johson and Maggitt might be second teamers at Bama, the other 9 would not get playing time unless it was a blow out.

Guys we are not in the big 12 having an offence that can put up 40 a game is great but having a great defence, quality depth, and the ability to run the ball is better.

I was only referring to linebacker. There is nothing wrong with our defensive line. We have really done well there. The back 7 are killing us, and frankly, it doesn't look like there is any help on the way. Vereen should be the lowest rated prospect we have at linebacker. He is the highest ranked of the 5. Campbell may end up as a beast, but he is a project.

I suspect our D players are not as bad of athletes as they look. Give them an off season and a fall camp with some for real D ball coaches and a scheme that fits their skill sets and they would be middle of the pack SEC. Which since this is a D league is pretty good. Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Georgia have more and better athletes on the D side of the ball than the Vols. Once you get past that group IMO the Vols are not out "athleted" THEY ARE JUST OUT COACHED:lolabove:
