All of us were wondering why the silence following the KY fiasco. Here's a little info on why.

"Nobody was more upset than the guy you are looking at," Hart said in an interview with the News Sentinel on Thursday, the first day in which he's sat down with reporters since the end of UT's 5-7 football season.

"That particular performance on that particular day was unacceptable. I'm not going to sugarcoat that. Unacceptable. I'm sure Derek feels the same way, the players feel the same. Unacceptable.

"When I've been around that level of disappointment, I don't talk to the coach for at least 24 hours, sometimes 48 hours. I don't have anything good to say. I can't be encouraging at that moment. I'm feeling what a lot of people are feeling at that moment because it hurts, it's embarrassing. You're human."

Absolutely nothing wrong with having an AD that's "Competitive to a Fault." In fact, I'd say it's exactly what we need.

Oh yeah, I think that Hart is one of the most competent bodies we have in UT sports. He's light years ahead of Hamilton imo.

Agree. I like Hart and feel like he was a fantastic hire. Hamilton was absolutely clueless and a meddler as we all know. I appreciate Hart's approach and am sure the coaches do as well.

so we are stuck with chaney and double h ? oh well, 6-6 next year. that's only because the schedule is a tad easier. might as well except it. maybe one day we will have an a d that will lay the law down to fire some asses around u t.

Couple of good quotes from the article. Hart appears to mean business and sounds like he knows that next year the excuses run out. Its time for Tennessee football to be competitive again.

"No season where you lose more than you win is acceptable because I think you do have to set standards, and I think the bar has to be high because if it's not, complacency sets in," Hart said. "I think people need to know what the expectations are, and we'll be very specific about expectations across the spectrum of our athletics program. Obviously when you have a season that results in more losses than wins, then no, that's not acceptable to anybody. It's not acceptable to Derek, it's not acceptable to anybody who touches the program: players, coaches, support staff. That's very obvious."

"I think this, we're not young anymore in football. We're not young anymore. While it is realistic and it is factual to say that we have fielded an inexperienced team the last year or two, we're not going to field inexperienced teams anymore. Those are the kinds of things you have to sit down, talk about and assess. I have thoroughly enjoyed Derek Dooley. I think Derek Dooley has the skill sets to be a highly successful coach."

Translation: if Dooley doesn't get it done in 2012 he's out on his ass.

Rome wasn't built in a day (UT Football will not be repaired from the last 2 coaches in 2 recruiting cycles, either).
I hope Dooley can get this thing turned around.

Thanks man, I wasn't sure what he was getting at.:)

Haha. Yeah, a little redundant I guess. That's basically as direct as he can put it without coming right out and saying "Derek Dooley has one more year to show big signs of improvement."

I really like Hart's comments. It is spoken like a man with a passion to win, and the wisdom to look at the big picture. It is obvious that our program needs at least one more year with the same head coach for some consistency. Keep brining in talent and we will be back on top soon!
