I't might just be me but everytime we needed a big run last year Hardesty gave it to us. I think he is going to emerge as one of the top 5 RB's in the nation this year. Anyone agree? Heck if we would have handed it to him a couple more times against UCLA the game would have been over and there never would have been an OT. Does anyone have any idea why they didnt let him take all the snaps instead of Fumbling Foster anyway?

With our O-line a top 5 back would be hard to imagine, most people seem to think we will be going running back by committee as well so that will cut down on his touches.

Our O-Line will be much improved and Hardesty will be just fine, as long as, like pointed out earlier he stays healthy. I've said it a lot on here before that I think he's been the best back on the roster he just couldn't stay healthy

Hardesty has been the best back on the roster for about 2 years now, he just hasnt been able to stay healthy. He looked real good in the spring, going to depend on if this o-line can open up some holes for him.

Yes! I really wish everyone would relax on our O line. If you look at the years prior to last year it is easy to see the problem. I also think we could have two backs in the top ten this year.

I agree with that. I also think that if any one player is doing well that the staff will stick with them. Our RBs should be a lot of fun to watch this season. I think "Hardesty for 6" is going to be a common phrase this year.

Top 5 is definitely a stretch, but I believe he will have a very productive year for us. He could easily be top 5 in the conference if he stays healthy.

If I were on defense, I do not think that I would want to see Hardesty after BB took the ball to the house on the previous drive.

The only knock on Hardesty has been durability.

We went 5-7 last year . . . It was just you. :)

So he didnt have us in position to blow out UCLA before Clawson went crazy and wanted to throw the ball? Maybe you should go back and watch that game again.

Name me 5 backs that are leaps and bounds better than him?

Where did I say anything about the UCLA game? I think Hardesty is the best back on the team, but let's not make it out like he had a bunch of big runs in the clutch last season.

Most of the time it was Foster with the ball. And im pretty sure that the season includes the UCLA game. In that game if i remember correctly he had two big long touchdown runs and would have had three but they decided to give it to Foster from the two and he fumbled the ball. Up three scores that game is over. This game pretty much set the tempo for the rest of the year.

Wasn't it year before last, when our coaches somehow "forgot" to get Hardesty in the game vs. Bama? He was not too happy about that; he is a gritty competitor.

HE runs with authority and losts of heart no fear maybe that is the reason for the injuries. He and another back are going to be devistating this year but I do not think the O line is the big concern we need a Will Barthol (full back)

Not exactly right . . . Hardesty did have a couple of TD runs, but I think on the drive you're talking about, Arian Foster actually had a big run to get into the red zone and a TD would have meant a 21-7 lead. I think Foster actually had 40 more yards rushing than Hardesty with similar carries.

But like I said, I think all things being equal Hardesty is the best RB . . . if he can stay on the field.

Amen, we have been needing that, but I would like to think we have two of the better fullbacks that we have had in a while, plus Will's little brother could come back to that position if needed. Here's hoping our coaches will utilize fullback more than we have been in recent years. :good!:

UT was begging for someone last year, to step up and be a star on offense and no one did. I think he gets unseated as the starter by Brown.

Foster also fumbled to get us beat by Penn St., UCLA, Florida two years in a row and im sure there are more that have slipped my mind. I just hope he stays healthy so can give us 100% this year. You cant tell me that in 2006 when everyone thought he was down against Cal at home and then he busted out of the pile and sprinted 30 yards to the endzone you didnt think we had something special. I'm just saying the potential is there.

If Brown takes the job ill be fine with it lol. Four years Bryce Brown pounding people would be great but i dont think Hardesty is going to go out that easy. He runs with heart and that is something that Foster just never did.

I agree. But whether it's bad technique, bad blocking or just plain bad luck, he just hasn't shown much durability throughout his career. I'd love for him to have a breakout year, but there's no way you can go into the season planning to use Hardesty as a workhorse type RB.
