Hardesty and the Delicious Taste of Crow

In the offseason, I stated on multiple threads my opinion that Bryce Brown would be the starter at RB by the fourth or fifth game. My rationale was that Hardesty was merely an average running back, and that Bryce's superior talent would win him the job once he became familiar with the offense.

I was wrong. And that is not a knock on Bryce Brown.

Hardesty has been nothing short of brilliant. I watched the UGA game again yesterday, and was as impressed with his two yard runs as I was with his 39 yard run. Even when the play is totally busted, he figures out a way to gain a yard or two.

Two years ago I referred to him as Montario "Happy Feet" Hardesty because of his penchant for dancing before actually hitting the hole. Wow, have times changed. One cut and downfield is the rule for Hardesty.

So, there you have it. I was wrong. Hardesty is a beast.

Thank you Eddie Gran

No shame. Hardesty was terrible until this year. All of the rah rah was wishful thiking. I am glad those wishes are true this year.

No. He wasn't and it wasn't.

Hardesty was snake bit with injuries but he came out of HS with all the potential in the world. I have ALWAYS loved his running style and said so. When others were trying to suggest that BB had a big speed advantage, I pointed out that Hardesty had a 100 m time in HS that rivals that of Demps... somewhere around a 10.5 or so.

The only questions I ever had about Hardesty's ability to be an elite back was whether he could stay healthy and whether he would get blocking.

I was reading on gators forum the other day and it seems that he gets respect from our rivals. some UF fans were wondering why A.Foster was the starter over Hardesty.

I dont think it has been injuries that have hampered Montario in the past so much as it was the former staff. Hardesty is proving this year what some of us have known all along.
