In the offseason, I stated on multiple threads my opinion that Bryce Brown would be the starter at RB by the fourth or fifth game. My rationale was that Hardesty was merely an average running back, and that Bryce's superior talent would win him the job once he became familiar with the offense.

I was wrong. And that is not a knock on Bryce Brown.

Hardesty has been nothing short of brilliant. I watched the UGA game again yesterday, and was as impressed with his two yard runs as I was with his 39 yard run. Even when the play is totally busted, he figures out a way to gain a yard or two.

Two years ago I referred to him as Montario "Happy Feet" Hardesty because of his penchant for dancing before actually hitting the hole. Wow, have times changed. One cut and downfield is the rule for Hardesty.

So, there you have it. I was wrong. Hardesty is a beast.

If he can stay healthy, I wonder how good he'll be in the NFL. One of the most underrated college running backs IMO.

See, this is the most delicious kind of crow. The kind of crow you don't mind eating in large quantities, with hot sauce.

At this rate, crow may hit the endangered species list this season.

He has clearly been taught how to run behind the zone blocking scheme. This is a shining example of a player being "coached up." Kudos to Eddie Gran.

I can't even look myself in the mirror after watching Hardesty run. Makes me feel like a little biznitch.

That dude's a man.

This guy has probably worked his way into the 2nd round. If he had always been healthy we would have never seen Arian Foster.

I never liked Foster's running style. You'd think he was trying to win some secret dance contest being held behind the line of scrimmage. I also didn't like his rockstar, loudmouth attitude.

Hardesty's an intense back, and it's really awesome that he's staying healthy and running hard this year.

It's really amazing what good coaching can do. If Kiffin was coach when Foster was here he(Foster) never would have seen the field. I too thought BB would be the starter by mid year but only because i didn't think Hardesty could stay healthy. I'm glad he has though.

If Coach Gran has helped Hardesty this much why can't he get the special teams together?? I am in no way knocking on Coach Gran, but we need to get it going on special teams.

Great Post for the OP. We talk a lot on here and it's nice when our negativity comes back unfounded. I remember when Eddie Gran was on the LK show - he said (and I'm paraphrasing) "We've told the backs that you can't dance in the hole on SEC defenses, plant your foot - One cut and hit the hole." To have this kind of success with our OL is very encouraging !

No shame. Hardesty was terrible until this year. All of the rah rah was wishful thiking. I am glad those wishes are true this year.

MH carrying a couple of UGA defenders to the first down line was a beautiful thing to watch

Interestingly, I think if this coaching staff had gotten ahold of Foster, he would've been much improved as well.

Kudos to Hardesty. I didn't think he'd be starting, but that had more to do with the fact that I didn't think he could stay healthy for two consecutive series.

I am thrilled that he has proved me wrong.
