And it would be pretty hard for him to not win 4 more games this year with UT Martin, Vandy, South Carolina, and Missouri still on the schedule. Plus games we feel reasonably comfortable about like LSU, Kentucky, and Florida.two year win totals of hires post fulmer:
kiffin: only stayed one year (7-6)
dooley: 11-14 (year 1: 6-7)
jones: 12-13 (year 1: 5-7)
cornbread-13-12 (year 1: 5-7)
heupel: so far 10-6 (year 1: 7-6)
Out of the 5 most recent hc hires, Coach JH needs 4 more wins to have the highest number of wins in his first two seasons (14)
The Vols will throttle UF this Saturday. Our D is much more legit than anyone yet recognizes. Our LB’s are among the best in the conf., and will feast this weekend. I have been watching these contests since the early 70’s. I sat thru a 32 year span of two coaches (Johnny & Fulmer), only to see a revolving door of leadership commence, then finally come to a halt with Coach Heup. This staff and entire program are now performing . My advice to all, …….enjoy this season and more to come.I understand the optimism. However, it's all very fragile and hangs on the outcome of this next game. A win will justify the optimism, a loss would be a huge negative mark and leave more questions about the direction we're headed. Either way, this forum is going to need some extra bandwidth Saturday night!
I think Penn State, Ole Miss, Texas, and Texas A&M would all be tough for us to beat. We should beat Florida if #51 on D can’t go but with him on the find I’d pick UF to win.Serious question... not being a jerk... who would you rank above them?
So those mentioned teams in your mind are better than UT?I think Penn State, Ole Miss, Texas, and Texas A&M would all be tough for us to beat. We should beat Florida if #51 on D can’t go but with him on the find I’d pick UF to win.
Our OL is still a major concern for me. I think we’re going to struggle to run against a good front 7 and I’m not sure if our D can stop a good run game... therefore I suspect ball control issues against better competition.
Here we are, 16 games into Heupels career at Tennesse and we are ranked #11 in the country.
I did not see this happening this quickly. How about y'all?
