This staff is gathering commitments at an incredible pace. Programs like Texas & LSU have been doing this for years, but what Jones & his assistants have done so far is unprecedented in recent UT football history. To wit:

* As of 5/31 we have 15 commits, three more than the last six years combined by the same date.

* 11 of those 15 commits are from out-of-state. In the previous 12 years combined, we only had nine out-of-state commits by this date.

* To the best of my knowledge, our 3 commits for the class of '15 are the earliest ones we've had in at least the past 12 years.

What this staff has done in a little more than six months is nothing short of remarkable. With more time to build relationships and sell what UT has to offer, they may be a dominant force in the recruiting arena much sooner than anyone could've hoped for.

...edited to add Weatherd, No. 15

That's why TOP recruits better hurry up and make their pledge to the VOLS so they can be a part of rising to the TOP brick by brick!!

They better act quickly and pull the trigger or their spot will be taken by the next stud in line!! Come be a huge part of the best recruiting class in the country! Rise to the TOP BRICK BY BRICK!!!

Several built-in advantages this year, though.

We are fortunate with the Legacy players this year for sure. However, the previous staff wouldn't have taken advantage of the "built-in advantages". Also wouldn't have gotten Hurd, etc. either. This staff's doing great.

wtf?????? Don't successful people use their built-in advantages and resources available to them?

im not faulting the staff for making use of the resources... merely pointing out that they won't have many classes filled with kids whose parents went to UT.

Refreshing isn't it??? Dooley would have had (1) committment at this time of year. It would have been a local kid from Catholic High, who is European-American, a receiver and has academic issues qualifying.... but Dooley would really be excited about this recruit...

Nice to see those days are over!!!!!

And how many do we have committed out of the 14 whose parents went to ut?

Smdh some people can find negativity in anything.

Its just breath mints. They really come in handy when you are telling a lady friend about your huge package.

That would be 2 of our current 14 commits iirc.

It's not like our entire class is made up of former players sons, but it doesn't hurt when that opportunity arises. It happens everywhere from time to time, and it will continue to happen from time to time but it's not like Butch and staff can't get it done elsewhere for sure! The future is bright bright ORANGE!! GO VOLS!!!

Who would yal like as our last 15-20 to round the class out around 30-35. I'm gonna try to keep my hopes realistic.

Ev.berry, Ell.berry, D.bates, K.mouhon. D.hendrix, Pet.wilson, Dj smith, Cort.mcdowell, R.gaulden, P.ford, Clif.garrett, David cornwell, Trav.valentine, adoree Jackson, M. Sawyers, J.Malone, D.Booth, St.truit, Chris Weatherd(juco), K.street,

With the names here I believe that's 20 putting our class at 34. I know we will likely not get all these guys, plus I know I left off the juco RB I actually think we will add him but couldn't think of his name. I think our chance of getting to 33 is pretty good.

The recruiting services have recognized CBJ and staff as one of the hardest working staffs on the recruiting trail. The results are very evident.
