From some knowledge of the lifting game, in order to make gains you have to work your tail off in the weight room, then rest, eat, sleep and recuperate, then hit it again heavier or harder or both, as soon as you can recuperate. This hard work taxes the body and shouldn't (offseason) leave enough in the tank for practicing and playing the game, if done for max strength and size gains. Just maintaining these gains during the season when playing and practicing a lot is an accomplishment. This may be somewhat off topic, but anyone who has knowledge please chime in. I've heard that progress as far as S&C happens in the offseason. What is the difference between off season workouts, and those during the season. All things being equal the biggest, strongest, fastest team will win. Why not continue to focus on that during the season as well ?!
