Happy for Dave Serrano

I wanted Elander to make a move to get Serrano on staff. I think it would have been a valuable addition.
Serrano has been extremely successful wherever he has been, except as HC at Tennessee. He is an outstanding recruiter, pitching coach, and motivator. Bringing him back on staff would be great, in my opinion

I finally looked at the bracket.

Never mind NAIA, this bracket looks like it's designed by an insane graduate from a bad junior college in California or Arizona .

Ten teams. No byes. Teas seeded 1-10
Four games today. HOWEVER, Johnson plays Saturday morning at 11 before the losers of the first four games play.

Fine, five games in a day is a stretch. But Southeastern (Fla) and Johnson are the 5-6 teams.
The winner of their game will not play again until Tuesday where they will play the winner of a Monday matchup from first day winners. So the 5-6 seeds basically skip a 2nd round game.

Good luck to Tennessee Wesleyan who is also in the tourney. I noted that University of the Cumberland (on the state line) was upset last week and did not make the tourneey

He was the most home run hire on paper I had ever seen here at UT in pretty much every sport; I was pretty surprised he didn't do any better than Todd Raleigh.

* Small ball was no longer going to work in the SEC as the deadbats came back to more realistic leves.
* Dave was here when the SEC was likely at it's strongest top-to-bottom. Especially in the SEC East. Florida, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt were rolling. Then consider Arkansas was at it's peak and Ole Miss/Miss State were ascending and LSU under coach moron even won a title.
* I don't think the pitchers were doing as well as they should have been doing. (see #2 for a possible explanation)

Is he a candidate to join the staff? Honestly, I thought he was a slam dunk hire and we were in for a helluva ride under him. Can't express how disappointing it was to see how it all turned out.

Johnson (and Serrano) take on Tennessee Wesleyan in losers bracket this afternoon at 1:50 pm

6-seed Johnson lost their opening game on Saturday to 5-seed Southeastern (FL) yesterday. 14-13 (not a pitcher's dual) https://www.naia.org/sports/bsb/2025-26/Releases/daytwogameone

8-seed Wesleyan beat the host school 3-seed Lewis-Clark State on Friday but lost to 9-seed Indiana University Southeast .

The eliminated teams thus far

#4 Doane (Nebraska 0-2)
#2 Georgia Gwinnett (0-2)
#3 Lewis-Clark State (1-2)

Surviving Teams:

#7 MACU (OK) (2-0)
#9 Indiana Univ Southeaster (2-0)
#10 William Carey (MS) 2-0
#1 Taylor (2-1)
#5 Southeastern (FL) 1-0
#6 Johnson (1-1)
#8 Tenn. Wesleyan (1-1)

The crazy format means some teams have played 3 games, some have played 2, and one has played once.

There are no off days for the losers bracket as Johnson /Wesley will need five straight games in five days to win the title. The double elimination continues to end. There is not a series between bracket winners so the tourney could end Saturday night if a team remains undefeated, or a Sunday game if the losers bracket survivor wins the Saturday night game. Weather in Idaho is questionable the rest of the week.
