Happy 72 big ones to the big guy today. He currently is the last UT coach to win a SEC title and National title back in 1998. Fulmer won 152 games from 1992 to 2008 and two SEC titles along with 7 SEC east division titles and of course the national title. He will always be a Tennessee legend for those accomplishments. He also went 11-5 against Alabama and was the last Tennessee coach to beat Nick Saban. Happy Birthday Coach.

He was the interim coach for three wins at the start of the 1992 season while Johnny Majors was recovering from heart surgery.

Classic Fulmer.. can’t deny his championship and SEC championships with Cut and the Chief after them we know his demise.. but very much appreciated the good times the Vols had during his time there.. I’m very two sided with him..

In fairness and balance Fulmer won 0 championships after 98.

Happy Birthday Phil. I like/d Coach Fulmer. And to think his largest accomplishment came with Randy Sanders by his side. **UGH**

Poor Johnny came rushing back to take the reigns.
The newbies to the conference kicked our Azzes.
Freshman Tannihill ripped UT a new one in Columbia.

Yea he did and he costed us a chance to win the East we should’ve won the East after beating Florida and Georgia. It was inexcusable losing to both Arkansas and South Carolina who were both terrible that year.

I loved the man for a long time when we were winning and for years after he was shown the door. Majors was the coach when I first started to get infected with all things Orange in my preteen years. The older I get and wiser I get I wish the man no ill will but I hold grudges. He hurt us more than he helped us in the long run. And y’all are welcome for your Fulmer hate post. Didn’t read the whole thread so not sure if I’m the first or not. I’d wager I’m not.

Anyone putting odds on whether there is more than the briefest jumbotron acknowledgment of this birthday at Neyland this evening?
