MH will go straight for a big name regardless of what it costs. Bama kept it in the family for years (DuBose, Shula) before hiring Saban. If TN is going to compete year in and year out then we must have a proven coach equal to that of Saban, Meyer, Richt, Miles, and even Steve Spurrier.

Who is the equal to Saban and Meyer though?

Seriously...we won't get anyone close to either of those guys.

When you look at the list of coaches Bama has went through the past 20 years does it ever occur to anyone just how freakin STUPID that school is?...Seriously....They just hired any joe blow off the street...One of us could've coached them if We had applied LOL

If we get a Gruden or a Cowher then I would definitely say they are not equal, they are superior. I am not counting on that though

The last tome I looked Saban was Bama's coach.

Firing Shula for Saban was a "smart" move.

Neither of those guys has experience recruiting high school kids.

Recruiting is what makes coaching college football exponentially more difficult and precarious than the pros.

Mark this down. Bama will lose by 2+ touchdowns this weekend at LSU, and everyone will be off the Saban bandwagon.

We all better hope so or our next 15 seasons coaching plan will look like shampoo instructions. Lather, rinse, reapeat as necessary...kinda like Bama's last 15 seasons.

I don't think LSU will score more than 2 TDs against Bama, but even if they do Bama will still be 9-1 and most likely headed to Atlanta after finishing the regular season 11-1.

Do you know how much $$$ I would give to be 11-1?

Think about it. If you are a 4 star recruit with dreams of turning pro, wouldn't you rather play for a coach that has been there done that and bought the T-shirt? Gruden and Cowher are household names on a larger scale than Saban and Meyer. Recruiting would not be a problem.

I love Grudens passion however I don't see him as a college HC. His offense is too complex for college players to learn and his temperment would probably be too rough for the prima dona's of today's game. So whats the link to this job....was he a grad asst at UT when he started his coaching career?

It's been said before on this forum. Winning would take care of recruiting. If your program wins consistently, the recruiting gets a lot easier.

I'd love to see Cowher rip Crompton's head off after a poor performance. Talk about seeing someone get fired up on the sidelines...

If you think coaching in college is more difficult than the pros, you are officially beyond help.
