If he did it wasn't in the quote. I posted the quote. He said we worked on being more explosive with 8 in coverage. And it's probably just a pistol formation.
From Callahan’s transcription:

On what Tennessee can do to create more explosive plays this season

"That's been the entire focus of the offseason, is, when people are playing really really soft and dropping in coverage, how do we keep being explosive in the passing game? And that's why, once again, we ran the ball the way we did last year. But it's not going to be that we're going to just say that that's par for the course now. The entire focus of this offseason is, how do we get our playmakers in space with the ball in their hands where they can run and do what we've recruited them here to do?
"So feel like we've made some changes. We've done some things differently. But we're never going to lose sight of who we are, which is to be extremely aggressive with how we call it, to push the tempo, to make people play in space. But what are the one or two little, different things that we can do that help free people up and when people are playing really, really soft and saying, all right, you're not going over the top today. What are we going to do to attack that and not let them set the directive of the game?"

We will succeed in measure with how much the offensive line proves trustworthy. When we have to keep a RB or extra TE in for pass protection, the defense is determining the play calls.

But I think we'll see some weakside delayed slants, and TEs getting the ball in space this season.

I am not expecting a lot this year so if we breakout, that would be great.

We have three huge games that I have as Ls right now: Georgia, Alabama, Florida. If we can win at least 1 of those 3, that would be HUGE. We also don't need to lose any games we shouldn't from the 9 other games. Of the 9 others, @kentucky, @Miss State, and Syracuse are the most risky in that order. Oklahoma could also be potentially tough but I am more confident with this game due to it being at home and the coaching staff's familiarity with OU.

One of the factors that made the 2022 offense so lethal IMO is that Hendon just knew when to take off. If we have a QB this year that can do that and do it confidently, I think we'll be closer to '21 and '22.

I still don't get the fact that when teams drop 8 in soft coverage, why don't we utilize short passes for decent gains ? we did that a lot during 2022 .. not all large gains were deep balls, a lot were 5-10 yard pass into 40 yard gain ..
may be it is receivers or QB not recognizing those fast .. or may be play caller .. who knows
Maybe he’s busy trying to pick up someone blitzing

When we’re going tempo it is definitely more difficult to run more pre-snap stuff quickly and efficiently. With our offense going so quickly it does cause more fake injury/dead ball situations. We really need to take advantage of those situations, the problem being everyone plays us 2 deep to not get beat over the top. Hopefully our intermediate pass game 10-25 yard plays will be more available with more comfort in the QB throwing over the middle. I think Joe and Nico were not very effective throwing those 15-25 yard balls and maybe that’s something that whoever QB1 is can be better at.
The tempo needs to go. I don’t think a team has ever won a championship with it outside of Auburn, and outside of what Malzahn did with it there as a HC it usually gets exposed in the BCS Championship and CFP games. It was great for us early on to really give us a schematic advantage that teams really hadn’t gone up against in the SEC. Now teams have learned how to defend it in the SEC (just look at the past 2 seasons outside of South Carolina and Vandy in 23 we haven’t had an explosive offensive showing in the air against a team inside the SEC) and really the offense has become anemic against SEC competition if we’re being honest because if we don’t have Dylan Sampson last year we’re a 7-5 team with losses to Florida, Oklahoma, and Bama. Plus we’ve gotten to the point where we’re signing players that are talented enough to where we can develop them into NFL guys and put them in a system that has them winning 1v1 matchups or finding the soft spots in the zones instead of just playing a numbers game and taking a deep shot whenever the defense makes a mistake. Mike Matthews doesn’t need to be relegated to bang 8s and vertical routes and we have to start running routes with these guys that they will run in the NFL. Because recruiting players on the perimeter is a hell of a lot easier when you can point to multiple 1000 yard receivers in the NFL. It’s why in the world of NIL receivers take less money to play for Brian Hartline and LBs take less to play for Kirby etc. I think we have that with Rodney Garner and maybe even Inge, but we REALLY need it on the perimeter, on both sides to be honest
