Emmanuel Hall, from Franklin Tennessee seems to be very important to Locke and the Tigers. He is the leading returning WRn and is the number 1 receiver again this year in spite of missing almost 5 games with an injury (got injured early against Uga). In fact, all four of Missouri's losses occurred with him out. I hope Pruitt has a plan to neutralize him.

If he is healthy it will be hard to neutralize him. If you bracket him then that will expose someone else and he will beat a Jam for 6 a lot of the times...Best bet is to rattle Lock so he can't find him.

He's a big time player, curiously to see how Alontae matches up! I'm curious to see if we play press coverage with the young DBs. Taylor has been really good to this point and Pruitt is starting to get more aggressive because of it. I think Taylor causes 2 turnovers tomorrow and plays a big part of a big upset win for the Vols!!

Alontae Island says hello to Hall.

Osbourne played pretty well for coming in late.

Don’t disagree. But, that’s his first game seeing time that he played good consistently all year.

If Thompson is passed through concussion protocol I wouldn’t expect Osborne to see the field against Missouri.

I don't disagree but our corners were pretty shaky to start with at the beginning that includes Thompson and Alontae. Thankfully, they are cerebral freshman who've soaked in all of their experiences. There might be a chance that Ozzy might have turn the corner.

Buchanon is consistenly our weakest corner tbh.

Agreed about Buchanan his pass coverage is suspect. However he is our best tackling DB at this point maybe minus Thompson.

Could you not have said that not as bad?

This will be a good game to grade the progress of our DB's. IMO, they got this. Saw in another thread that Missouri is going to be without their starting TE as well.

Marquill is a baller...he came in under that other coach and played well but got lost in the depth chart under Coach Pruitt...may have had a harder time with the transition...anyway...glad to see him playing and improving...

GO VOLS...BEAT TIGERS!

Thompson was also playing hurt before the concussion. UK started throwing to that side and they finally subbed him. Looked like it was his back hurting him. Hopefully nothing lingering this Saturday.

Welton and Butch decided he’s not good enough to pursue.:mad:

From Franklin Tn. How the hel- did he wind up in that god forsaken place? To me this just shows how diverse mid Tn. has become. Many many people moving in. (don't know if this is the case with him) You would think that he might end up "closer to home". Surly some closer school would have noticed him in high school and offered. Did any offer?

If you look at his offer list, there were a lot of lower-tier SEC schools and mid-majors. Only major program making an offer was bammer. I hate the SOB, but satan sure does have an eye for talent.

It was his hip area. He landed on it weird during a tackle.

Edit: He motioned for relief but Auburn was running hurry up so they couldn’t sub.

Although Kentucky is not known as a throwing team, our coverage was pretty solid the entire game. I think that the best play is for CJP to run our defense against Mizzou and let the players play the game. We are not fundamentally sound enough as a defense to start making changes based on one good player. Maybe he comes down with some big gains or even TD's, and that would be regrettable. But if CJP changes too much we will have issues with Lock throwing all over us because we will blow coverages and miss assignments. Lock is good enough to exploit those kinds of errors with other recievers.

Keys to success against Mizzou:
1. Long sustained scoring drives by our Offense, keeping Lock and company off the field as much as possible. (We need to put up 30 to keep pace with them scoring)
2. Dial up the defensive pressure from stunts and pass rushers to keep Lock off balance.
3. Maintaining dicipline and playing assignment football in coverage.

Tennessee talent is underrated, both by coaches and the services.

Ke'Shawn Vaughn (Nashville) is killing it at Vanderbilt.
Emmanuel Hall (Franklin) is a star at Missouri.
Paul Adams (Nashville) is one of the best OTs in the SEC at Missouri.
Jacob Phillips (Nashville) is a star at LSU.
Tyrel Dotson (Franklin) is one of the SEC's best LBs at aTm.
JoeJuan Williams (Nashville) is a very good CB at Vanderbilt.
Alex Givens (Nashville) has done quite well at Ole Miss and would be Tennessee's best Olineman right now.
Jay Guillermo (Maryville) at Center anchored a National Championship OLine at Clemson and another NC runner-up line.
Dylan Jackson (Maryville) is quite a good Dlineman at Stanford.

These are all kids UT passed on from instate. Of course there are others than ended up at UT or elsewhere that UT pursued and missed. But this state, especially the midstate, is cranking out more talent right now than folks realize.

The coaching staff let two players, back to back years, from Centennial High School in Franklin go unoffered and they’ve now both gone on to be productive members of their teams. Guess they didn’t have 5 star hearts???

That's an entire OL lost out on!! Just adding half of those guys would have helped tremendously, it also would likely had kept gym teacher Jones so it all worked out.

Hopefully Pruitt will do a better job of evaluating in state talent than Jones. I am pretty sure the Vols recruited some of those kids though, and just lost out. I checked Adams, Tennessee is listed as recruiting him. May not have been a priority though.

I get that Mizzous passing game is the main focus but their run game is very underrated. Crockett is a very good RB.
