so what if it did? That's a good thing
I totally agree. But let’s not act like he’s doing it just to be courteous to fans. Some way some how he’s going to turn it into more revenue and cut out just being beneficial for fans.

Half price concessions aside - I do think the 3 hours for the gate to open coupled with the Vol Walk and Band March will honestly help with the congestion to get into the stadium.

I don't plan to get there that early for Auburn but the idea of spreading out the crowd going into the stadium, I do like.

If we could only figure out the leaving part.
Hear me out...tunnel under the river...

I'm guessing that the target audience is to get the student section in place early and full. What student won't jump at half price beer.

I have concerns about encouraging this fan base to drink even more.

Folks are either going to drink or not.Outside or inside. Concessions are also half price the first hour. Some fans will find a way to gripe about that also. Fans complain prices are too high and then they act like a few dollars on beer for a hour is going to make some huge difference in if someone gets drunk or not. Somebody wanting to get drunk is going to get drunk half price or not.GBO

What’s wrong with more revenue if you’re getting half price. Some folks just like to complain about everything. Half price helps fans, if it makes more revenue that’s part of his job! GBO

Posted earlier that I hoped they made this a permanent thing...love this idea! I doubt it's going to make a huge difference either way, but I love the idea of rewarding some fans for beating the lines early with half-priced concessions.

Again like many others have said, if folks want to drink, it's WAY cheaper and easier to drink outside the stadium than inside regardless of if it's half-priced or not so I seriously doubt this is gonna to affect the level of intoxication at the games.

But especially for the huge games with the super long lines, even if it only gets 5% of folks in the stadium a bit early, that's a win for everyone. Early arrivals (cheap concessions), late arrivals (a few less people in line), vendors (sell more stuff), etc. I Hope they make it permanent forever unless it really causes a problem. And aren't the beers $16-$17 typically? So half priced is still $8ish+? I doubt the serious drinkers are going to be racing inside early just to get some $8 crappy beers. But if you're already considering going in a bit early, might as well entice folks with some cheaper food and drink in the process, alcohol or not.

Wasn’t affordable concession prices one of the factors the Falcon owner had to agree to in order to secure public money to help build it? I remember that being discussed during the funding stages but I’m not in Ga so I can’t say for sure.
Actually no, it wasn’t in the agreement. It was Arthur Blank’s idea to provide fan friendly concession prices. He saw how cheap the prices of food and drinks were at Augusta and decided to apply that concept to MB stadium. The year they cut concession prices in half, their profits on concessions increased by 16%. There isn’t any reason why other stadiums can’t provide this type of pricing:
  • Hot dogs: $2
  • Pretzels: $2
  • Popcorn: $2
  • Nachos: $3
  • Pizza slices: $4
  • Waffle fries: $3
  • Bottled water: $2
  • Fountain sodas: $2 with free refills
  • Small domestic beer: $5
  • Large domestic beer: $9
  • Specialty items like chili cheese dogs and vegan sausages: about $5

Not sure, but I would have thought George Dickel. They was what I thought when I walked through a door at Epcot right as he was coming by. But that was over 40 years ago.Maybe his fav was JD. Or maybe he consumed both and more.
Coach Majors was a Johnnie Walker Red man, though I don't recall them pouring that at Epcot.

Then again, after the first few shots of Jameson at Epcot, things get blurry.

Yes, prices were very fair when we went to the Syracuse game last year.
