First, I know this has nothing to do with UT football, but this deserves all the traffic it can get, so it will go to the highest traffic part of the board. Especially since this might be the most-visited sports-related page on the internet at the moment.

Most of you know, some of you may not, that the country of Haiti experienced a devastating 7.0 earthquake near the capital of Port-au-Prince yesterday, and the capital city there is basically leveled. Their hospitals have collapsed, and there are millions left homeless. On top of that, the death toll is expected to top ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND CASUALTIES.

Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, and needs help.

I know many of us are concerned with who our next head coach is going to be, but put out the fire in your hair for 10 seconds to donate 10USD to the Red Cross relief fund.

What happened down there really puts everything in perspective. We are upset because a coach left out favorite football team. They are upset because they've lost everything they own and loved ones in an earthquake.

Good post Milo.

I might look into donating some extra inventory of VOTE 14 shirts I have.

Does anybody know if they are accepting them through shipments? and if so, is there an address for those of us not in Knoxville?

Please everyone be very careful how you donate and to whom. I and my family have, before the quake, donated a small amount here and there to some medical misisons to Haiti. That country, even without the quake, is a bottomless pit of need. They need help even more now, yes, but be careful because there has been a long history in that country of corruption and I am sure there are scammers out there trying to take advantage of this, as there are in any such situation.

My advice: Donate to nationally known enterprises that assist natural disaster victims, like Red Cross, etc. If your church is collecting, take a listen to who they link it up to. The established churches probably have less of a problem with this than some others, so if its a new church you go to, I wouldn't be afraid at all to inquire a little bit about who has approached them to funnel assistance in to Haiti.

My church is the main support for an orphanage in Port-au-Prince. We have heard nothing. They have a well which requires electricity and requires that the quake didn't break their pipes

Great heart shown here. They need our prayers too!

UPDATE: The pastor and all of the chidren are alive. The back wall of the orphanage fell and there is other structural damage. It may be terrible for them right now but eventually those things can be rebuilt this man of God and the children can't be.

Thank you for your prayers.
