You people are dense. Currie got played by he big name coaches which is why he spouted off about a big, expensive, explosive hire. When those guys got the leverage they needed at their current jobs, they politely said no thanks. Currie and Haslam then decided to go with Schiano. The heat went way way up on both those guys so he swung for the fences with Gundy....again. Funny how 8.4 mil dropped to 7 mil in the report I read. Anyway, the job is toxic now. Outside of a low level coach or much more likely, a coordinator with UT ties, we aren't getting a name coach. Brohm will also reject us, too. Just watch it happen.
Do you really think any coach with a decent future will jump into this mess with an AD who is almost universally despised by the fans and a meddling, corrupt booster like Haslam of Cleveland Browns lore? No way in hell would he risk his future on this mess known as UT football. Nope, this will come down to Martin or Steele. If Sumlin/Chavis don't get a gig soon, that might be an option, but having something like that fall our way is highly unlikely.
Accept what has happened. Haslam and our pathetic AD/coaching hires have ruined this brand. I doubt we see a return to respectability in my lifetime. We have become Nebraska east. Only difference is they have a husker son who is a dynamic young coach about ready to take the helm and turn them around. We, on the other hand, have hope and prayer in Martin or Steele. Until UT rids itself of the Haslam family, fires Curry and puts this house in order, it is and will remain hopeless. I'm sick of them. I'm sick of orange. I'm sick of UT. I'm sick of being embarrassed. I'm ashamed of my alma mater.
