Calm down people. Gundy’s name came out of no where yesterday. I suspect a name could come today that we don’t expect. Chad Morris would cause riots again. I really do think we go a different route. Let’s wait and see!

I don't know about that. We thought Currie was smart enough to make the big hire before he tried to get Schiano. They are bargain shopping again

Word is out now that UT is spending big, should bring some big names out of the wood works. At least we have the comfort in knowing Charlie Anderson is leading the charge now

Witch Doctor wouldnt call that a "win" "Hey what if we give you a bunch of money to put this fire out? Gundy " who is this ?" Currie " Tennessee" Gundy " click....................."

Witch Doctor think this (guess) is more PR for Currie as now he can say (because they made sure to leak all of it) "Hey I went out and threw big money! I tried, so now we have to hire this third string grass keeper from Draughons Jr College"

As all this Currie engendered mayhem ensues at UT, Kiffin abides.
Did anyone say The Elephant in the Room?

The name won’t necessarily come out of nowhere, but it is a high-profile coach that hasn’t been talked about much in connection with this job.

Gundy was a plant by Currie and company. Setting up for the 50 cent desperation hire.

His name didn't come out of nowhere.

He's been regularly mentioned (along with Bromley, Frost, Patterson, Peterson) even before Butch was fired. Actually, he turned us down before Butch was even hired 6 years ago.

No point trying to make this look like it's going ok. More have turned us down now than did before the Butch hire.

This is no longer a dumpster fire, it's a nuclear accident.

Witch Doctor say it didnt feel right,
they leaked EVERYTHING they could (didnt before)
Curries gets proof hes trying the big boys
Gundy never really stressed his fan base or players just let it ride till after the newscycle had basically ended and said no. #cowboyforlife..shows his loyalty They both won (PR)
except we the fans lose because now they are going to try to sell us a lesser product.

You people are dense. Currie got played by he big name coaches which is why he spouted off about a big, expensive, explosive hire. When those guys got the leverage they needed at their current jobs, they politely said no thanks. Currie and Haslam then decided to go with Schiano. The heat went way way up on both those guys so he swung for the fences with Gundy....again. Funny how 8.4 mil dropped to 7 mil in the report I read. Anyway, the job is toxic now. Outside of a low level coach or much more likely, a coordinator with UT ties, we aren't getting a name coach. Brohm will also reject us, too. Just watch it happen.

Do you really think any coach with a decent future will jump into this mess with an AD who is almost universally despised by the fans and a meddling, corrupt booster like Haslam of Cleveland Browns lore? No way in hell would he risk his future on this mess known as UT football. Nope, this will come down to Martin or Steele. If Sumlin/Chavis don't get a gig soon, that might be an option, but having something like that fall our way is highly unlikely.

Accept what has happened. Haslam and our pathetic AD/coaching hires have ruined this brand. I doubt we see a return to respectability in my lifetime. We have become Nebraska east. Only difference is they have a husker son who is a dynamic young coach about ready to take the helm and turn them around. We, on the other hand, have hope and prayer in Martin or Steele. Until UT rids itself of the Haslam family, fires Curry and puts this house in order, it is and will remain hopeless. I'm sick of them. I'm sick of orange. I'm sick of UT. I'm sick of being embarrassed. I'm ashamed of my alma mater.

Calm down? Are you serious? If they hire Chad Morris nobody is going to watch. The guy is 14-22 as a coach! We have the worst AD and big booster in the nation!

Dooley. Butch. Holly. Serrano. Raleigh. SchiaNo the $hit$tain.....

Just bring back Daddy Fulmer, Kiffin, or Tee if it's this much of a joke! If they hire the SMU coach then UT football is officially over.

This, all day. Why was the Gundy episode so public after they kept Schiano so quiet? They knew they were selling a stinker with schiano and tried to pull a fast one and sneak him in. The whole Gundy thing was a "see, no one wants it so let's hire another turd" song and dance. I'd love to be the guy to hand them their walking papers.

Just go talk to kiffin...good grief.

Honestly, desperate times call for desperate measures. This program needs to find as close to a known, sure thing as it can get. Tee and Kevin might....might...be great head coaches someday, but it's not a certainty. This program is damaged to a point like I've not seen in over 50 years of watching games. We have to hire a coach that we know can and will win. Right now, I see two realistic options...Kiffin and Sumlin. Approach Sumlin quietly. You sign him and that's great. Turn the page and get behind him with all the resources he needs to put a tremendous staff together. If he declines, you go to Kiffin and make damned sure you get him and a properly structured deal that protects UT.

Having said all that, I still say it's best to make the change from Currie to Blackburn now and let him make the hire. Then push the plaque known as Haslam from our program.

No it didn't. Currie must've found Dave Hart's list from 2012. I expect we'll go after Charlie Strong next and then sign Luke Fickell (Cincy) or Skip Holtz (La Tech)

Not really. Gundy has a history of flirting with other programs in the off season to get raises.. Needs more money to get that Mullet styled just right. The Joe Dirt cut is expensive.

Chad Morris will not cause riots. He's perpetually boring and has no scandalous behavior to speak of. Majority of the fan base would just be apathetic.

If morris causes riots, then the national media is right and I abhor them.

I honestly don’t believe he was ever entertaining the idea. He was just using ya as leverage to get more lettuce from t Boone
