Gun control debate (merged)

Name one?

I can't wait to see the makers of Craftsman tools get sued the next time someone is bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Or maybe J. A. Henckels when one of their knives are used to stab someone to death. Even better, just wait until a major car company gets sued because someone decided to randomly plow into a crowd of people. These irresponsible companies need to be held to account for idiots completely misusing their products. That'll teach 'em.

Nope completely different and we know it . Do you know any gun mfg that doesn’t warn their customers about their product ? You should read all the literature that comes with a firearm .
Nowhere on my car is a warning that running over someone may cause them death. Do I have a case?

It’s always and forever more laws and more litigation with the left . Ignore the self responsibility and just sue somebody that will solve the problem .

lol....Who was irresponsible in the OxyContin story? The people who were getting rich by producing, marketing, over prescribing, or selling what they knew to be a highly addictive drug, or the people whose lives were ruined because of their addiction?

It's always the right who wishes to ignore the fact that people will lie, cheat, steal, and knowingly and willingly harm others if they can make a few bucks.....and that it is only the threat of litigation that replaces their missing conscious.

Did they do anything illegal?

Oh, I have no doubt.
That’s why it’s funny
I find your unwillingness to give a specific answer to be even funnier, and more telling.
But we'll just have to go with the generic 'who' since you're reluctant to be specific.
Which makes the answer - Yes, some did and no, some did not.

Let me see if I have this straight .. little Johnny OxyContin lays around high all day until he runs out of Oxys, money and friends , Johnny sees my 2 story house and decided he can rob me , sell my stuff to support his habit ,and get his friends back . I shoot little Johnny, he goes to the hospital to heal up and you think solving the problem would be to allow little Johnny to sue me , the gun mfg , and the company making OxyContin? You seriously think the companies making profits caused little Johnnys problems ? This thought process is the problem .

And now overdoses are the leading cause of death among those 18-45

No - you do not have it straight in the least.
Little Johnny is addicted to oxy because his doctor unnecessarily overprescribed oxy after Johnny's knee surgery for a football injury suffered during his senior year in high school. The manufacturer, pharmaceutical sells rep, doctor, and pharmacists were all aware of the unnecessary risk, but were willing to pass that risk on to Johnny because it put a couple of dollars in their pocket and they didn't think they were doing anything illegal - even though they were all aware it was highly immoral.
They self justified by saying "I'm not doing anything illegal, Johnny can refuse the prescription or not take the full prescription, it's Johnny's choice, the pills are inanimate objects, they can't hurt anyone, they can only harm when abused by people making poor choices, many people take oxy and just fine......"

The whole last line of thinking from leftists makes no sense, especially as they keep pushing programs to provide drug paraphernalia to users across the country. Can we start suing local, state, and federal governments for directly encouraging addictions, too?

Uh yeah it's on Johnny. Pain killers arent like a course of antibiotics, you dont have to finish the prescription for it to work.

I have gone thru your exact scenario, minus one year. It is on Johnny.

Butcher knives are designed to be as efficient as possible to cut through bone and muscle. I think we should sue the knife manufacturer if it's used on the wrong muscle and bone. Probably should ban them too.
No one is stopping you. Be interesting to hear what a jury has to say.

Pretty simple concept. Individual accountability and whatnot
