Gun control debate (merged)

I'm not entirely positive I'd get that warning out before looking for a reload and telling the locals to take their time, no rush at this point...

My point was I don't think everyone will be that brave in instances like that.

Oh I get ya. You are probably right on the brave thing. I forget sometimes i'm used to being around them.

I try and stay away from these topics for that reason. When I get to talking about it and read that people want to take the guns just because they feel like it. I tend to type faster and not put the thought I need to into what I saying.

:) :) :) :)

The main reason I give the warning in that stage is when we teach women about gun safety we normally tell them if they are worried about the aftermath of a brake in shooting to stay on the phone with dispatch and yell the warning to the intruder so that it is on record that a warning was given and they felt their life was in danger.

Everyone goes about stuff different ways, but in the heat of the moment I may have picked #3 myself :p.

Why would you teach them that? If someone has broken into your house it should be implied that their life is in danger. "Stop or I'll shoot" could prompt someone else to shoot first. F'em, unload the gun.

"In a grim reminder that violence in America never takes a holiday, 27 people were killed and 63 injured in shooting incidents on Christmas Day this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. This tally does not include people who shot themselves in suicide."

"The number of Americans killed in gun homicides on Christmas Day is comparable to the number of people killed in gun homicides in an entire year in places like Australia or Britain."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-s-than-in-an-entire-year-in-these-countries/
So only 27 people killed in violent crime in the entire country then?

Ok lets set a stage.

You are with your family at home when a guy with a gun brakes in and you can tell from him yelling that he has a gun and plans to use it. The best option is to get your family out and to a safe place, but lets say thats not a option. You have called 911 and police are on their way, the guy has made his way down the hallway and you know that the police will not make it to your house in time. You have 2 options:

1. Hide on the side of the bed facing away from the door and hope he passes by.

2. Grab the gun on the night stand and inform the guy that you are armed and will use deadly force should he walk into the room.

I'm sorry but I would be going with #2. Everyone has a right to their out look on things. I'm not looking to force anyone to own a gun, but I don't want anyone telling me I don't need one because they believe in option #1.

I don't carry a gun because I want/plan on using it out other then my yard for sport shooting. I don't carry one because it makes me feel like more of a man. I carry one because if I feel like my life is in danger of being took from me I have a option to help myself.

If anyone has never helped their local police department when they do some of their training exercises I would highly recommend it. You learn alot on how they are trained when called for shootings/+ alot of other cool things.

I don't want to come off sounding like a butthole or hateful. I respect anyone that don't want to own a gun, but I feel I deserve the same respect on my right to own one.

This is not just meant for you Grand Vol. I just seen you reply first so I just quoted you.

Your scenario goes out the window in your first paragraph, I wouldn't be wasting time calling 911. My wife would be exiting the house to call 911 while I buy her time confronting the criminal.

Shouldn't your wife be tossing you a spare mag and reloading herself? She is an Arky after all...

My wife will be using the shotgun, not leaving. Besides, how do you know the azzhat doesn't have friends outside?

Pretty bad instructions. Going to get someone killed.

Good point, in my case anyone outside would probably be treed by the dogs or ran inside to get away from them. Or shot them, if that be the case lord have mercy on their souls.

Well some men and women will rethink firing if they feel they will be put in jail. Its just something I was taught by the guys when I was growing up. I have always say if they are in your house they are free game but some people are a bit shy to guns don't take well to that type of teaching.

Everyone has a free will and we tell them all the options, but if you have a person that wants to learn to shoot but they was told by someone that guns are "bad". You want to take them slow and show them how guns can be used in a good way.

I do agree with you don't get me wrong.

I have no problem limiting all weapons sales, including knives. Although, I haven't heard of many mass knifing or stabbing incidents lately.

You have problems alright.... Apparently you need to be coddled and told what to do.... You're the type of individual bringing the USA down with all of your mamby pamby PC BS

Oh shat.....Hoggy thinks he's John Rambo now.

I have a pretty big problem notifying an intruder that I am armed. Criminals being what they are, have been known to shoot at noises and other such things.
The only time I want the criminal who is intent on doing harm to me, or my family to know I am armed, is when there are three hulls in the air and three holes in his shirt. Damn him, he elected to break into my home, actions indeed have consequences.

I actually have no desire to control any aspect of your life UNLESS it affects my life and the life of my family. The last time I checked TVs and college educations don't kill anyone (at least not directly anyway). However, guns do. Again, I have no desire to take away all of your guns, but I think that more strict gun regulation is hard to argue against. If it takes you a few extra days or weeks for you to get your next gun, but that same regulation stops at least one shooting that kills innocent people and children, then don't you agree that it is more than worth it?

Guns don't kill people.... People kill people. Shovel, hammer, hatchet, bat, ice pick, metal pipe.... Any of these items could be used to kill.... Car, truck, gasoline, poison.... I could go on and on. If you take guns from responsible owners only the thugs will have them.

No doubt.... If someone breaks into your home they're not there to bring you cookies....

There's the old right-wing line I've been waiting for! Justification for everything. Stupid.

You're right, I'm bringing the US down asking for more strict gun control. It's certainly not all the right-wing Rambos out there wanting to possess 100 guns and shoot everything that moves that's the problem. It's actually people like you bringing this country down, who think our President is Muslim and that he is turning our country into a Muslim state. I don't know what's more scary - the fact that this propaganda crap is out there or that so many people actually believe it.

What does Obama being a Muslim have anything to do with my right as a law abiding American to have any amount of firearms I want as I see fit and follow the law. Those rights come way before Obama got in office and people were after guns .. And they will be around well after he gone and people like you will still want them. This argument isn't new and didn't arrive at the barrack administration. But please, continue to grasp at straws as you bring nothing to the debate other than "you feel uncomfortable with people owning X amount of guns"

Your argument is completely ludicrous. The vast majority of gun owners don't want to "shoot anything that moves". Sure there are a few people who are mentally insane, but to equate the rest of gun owners to them is foolish. Also how many "right-wing Rambos" have shot up a place in recent memory compared to, say, gangs? And besides, most of these shootings are done with illegal firearms that no laws could have prevented. Criminals don't follow the law and even if you somehow went against the constitution and banned weapons, murderers would still murder.

What's it to you if I want to own 100 guns? Why do you care if I own a machete, sword, or knives? I guarantee you they won't hurt you or yours unless you try to hurt me or mine.

Where did Carl say anything about Obama being muslim? And even so, the few people who do believe that have a right to. Just like you have a right to live in fear of everything and despise the fact that I own weapons. However, neither you nor the government have the right to take them away from me thanks to the 2A.

You better pray that you don't ever need a gun and not have one. The average response time of cops is minutes. The average response time of a bullet is seconds. I know which one I'd trust my life with.

Trigger Warning: The person in my avi is holding a gun. I hope that doesn't upset you.
