The gun lobby opposes anything that remotely smells like it might lessen profits. I wouldn't even be surprised if/when some undercover operation finds they're running an off the books and underground ghost gun business to further their profits. Yes, I'm a pro gun owner and right to bear arms person. I also know about how human greed manipulates even good things into bad things.



Watch what happens.

Actually, you're right. You buy an "American" brand car, but it's not American. It's a hodgepodge of components from China, Japan, Canada, Mexico, etc. So much so that they don't even bother to alter the designs. Thus certain Chevy models and, similar Toyota models, are so alike, you could change the decals and likely wouldn't know the difference. Ghost cars (or trucks, if you prefer). Finally, while I'm a Chevy person, I wouldn't turn down a Land Rover, which is Fordesque, which many Brits are probably unaware.

In the 2000′s Ford Motor Co. purchased and was the parent company of Land Rover. Design, engineering, and technology was shared between the companies such as Land Rover's Terrain Response System. Such similar systems are now common in many vehicles with AWD. There's no denying the fact that technology and design have been combined between the two companies. Are you positing things that lessen 2A freedoms could hurt some people's bottom line? Perhaps...but if fighting to maintain freedoms can be incentivized that's a correlation I can live with.

Maybe that’s why some politicians promote less voter requirements and even fraud, to maintain or better their bottom line. The dims on this board are cool with it.

I can't remember how far back it was but I posted a study on the "gun lobby", in the "pay to play" context, really was much less effective than many would think. This is why so many people have moved to things like the GOA vs the NRA. They (the GOA) are much more aggressively focused on legal 2A rights issues. If the end results of them fighting for the 2A is somebody selling more guns I don't know how one would keep that from happening. The former can happen without the people participating giving 2 shizzes about the latter but if some companies find opportunity downstream I don't see a way to separate them.

My post is an opinion, but some folks like to construe it a 1960s era Clairol ad. Got no idea why, I donated mine to the local hospital so currently, I no longer have my hair.

To me, it's not fighting to maintain freedom. It's fighting because each and every time the government comes up with something "sensible" it either is way, way, way abused or there's unintended consequences that come out later.

To say they would take it too far is redundant since they always take it too far.

FOPA 86 is a prime example of this.
