Anything beyond a Remington 510.Absolutely correct. Even if that person spends hours each week at the range, jihadis are much better trained. But that isn't the issue now is it? As you are so fond of pointing out, the terrorists are not the problem, workplace violence is, and that office worker just might give everybody else a fighting chance to escape with their lives. I'll take those odds any day.
By the way, what is an assault rifle?
The American Rifleman magazine lists probably 10-12 instances around the country every month of guns used to prevent crime. My point is that, whether its Die Hard or a John Wayne movie, the far right has a whole bunch of idiots within it who have romanticized gun ownership, and who have bought into the notion that its "cool" or "manly" to possess a gun. That one day, you could be the hero that stops terrorists (or even just a mugging).
That with an hour of training, you can, like, kneel down behind a car door, and pick off the bad guys from 50 yards away with your handgun. Or hid behind a theater chair and start turkey shooting the terrorists in the balcony armed with assault rifles they converted to automatics.
It is not impossible to find incidents where people have successfully used firearms to prevent crime. But the simple fact is that it is extremely rare combined to uses of guns to commit crime. And in terms of terrorists incidents, the claim that if everyone was strapped then they could kill off the terrorists out of the blue is just really absurd, and is based on this naivete born of Hollywood.

Heros with pistols are the last thing the ruling elite want people to know about.

You look like a bigger moron with every post you make. You excel at painting entire groups of people with absurd caricatures you've created and legitimized in your mind.
Yet you screech and bray when anyone hints at a generalization about Muslims, minorities, women, etc.
Pure gold.

The thing about lawgator is that he doesn't care. His life revolves around stirring people up.
If his life was on the line and it came down to someone pointing a gun at him, he'd wish one of the right wing gun owners he so despises was there with him.
I have been saying for a long time that if all these people yelling for gun control was in a place where where they knew for a fact they was going to be shot and killed. I promise you if they could get to a gun they would pick it up and take a shot at them.
Its not in our nature just to lay down and die...If your kids/Spouse is in danger you will do anything to help.
I have guns, and I didn't kill anybody. Am I normal?"In a grim reminder that violence in America never takes a holiday, 27 people were killed and 63 injured in shooting incidents on Christmas Day this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. This tally does not include people who shot themselves in suicide."
"The number of Americans killed in gun homicides on Christmas Day is comparable to the number of people killed in gun homicides in an entire year in places like Australia or Britain."

I'll disagree.
I would go with option #3. Grab the gun on the nightstand, and open fire when he walked by the room. No warning given.Ok lets set a stage.
You are with your family at home when a guy with a gun brakes in and you can tell from him yelling that he has a gun and plans to use it. The best option is to get your family out and to a safe place, but lets say thats not a option. You have called 911 and police are on their way, the guy has made his way down the hallway and you know that the police will not make it to your house in time. You have 2 options:
1. Hide on the side of the bed facing away from the door and hope he passes by.
2. Grab the gun on the night stand and inform the guy that you are armed and will use deadly force should he walk into the room.
I'm sorry but I would be going with #2. Everyone has a right to their out look on things. I'm not looking to force anyone to own a gun, but I don't want anyone telling me I don't need one because they believe in option #1.
I don't carry a gun because I want/plan on using it out other then my yard for sport shooting. I don't carry one because it makes me feel like more of a man. I carry one because if I feel like my life is in danger of being took from me I have a option to help myself.
If anyone has never helped their local police department when they do some of their training exercises I would highly recommend it. You learn alot on how they are trained when called for shootings/+ alot of other cool things.
I don't want to come off sounding like a butthole or hateful. I respect anyone that don't want to own a gun, but I feel I deserve the same respect on my right to own one.
This is not just meant for you Grand Vol. I just seen you reply first so I just quoted you.
