and you better believe that every owner and NFL GM is(watching) every move Kiffin is making with the Vols.

You suggesting Lane is betting his entire bag of marbles on UT in hopes of an NFL job worthy turnaround?...

I think he is looking for a fertile spot to brand his image...no doubt in my mind about it. Maybe he falls in love with the Volnation in the process....

Hard to imagine a guy in his 30's betting his entire career on this job. Coach Kif is off to a solid start though and I am really looking forward to the start of the season.

It is what it is. GMs aren't going to hire an average coach out of college. There isn't a local press in the country that wouldn't make dogmeat out of any NFL team hiring Kiffin right now. Kiffin is going to have to make noise to get his name out there. I'd say he's off to a good start.

I'm leaving the crass Layla comment unsaid only through tremendous personal willpower...

Where is the Crimedawg when you need him?

I agree with the entire post but I'm hoping he doesn't see UT as a stepping stone and instead, as a place to redeem himself.

If he bolts after a national title, I suppose we will have gotten our money's worth. I'd prefer a good 10 years of successful stability though..

That would be nice. All that I ask is that he doesn't coach with one foot out the door. College football has built in protection for that. It is called recruiting.

OPer usual...very well done. I hope that CLK falls in love with UT and that this is not a stepping stone back to the NFL (lord knows there will be plenty of job openings in the next three years). But with that said...let's all hope he is so good that in three years everyone is wanting Lane Kiffin!

I hope you are correct Lex, a recruiting dynasty still has to coach those recruited and have game day smarts. The jury is to convene in October. Say the third Sunday.
