The halfcourt trap blogs could be bound together into a college basketball textbook.

guitar shots: I too agree that this game against LSU is a huge opportunity to paint over some of the shortcomings of the recent past and apparent weakness of the future. Also, Ainge gets a rare chance in life to completely redefine his career at its end starting with this game. Everyone remembers his first game against LSU. And of course last year he was too hurt to play. He plays well and leads his team to victory Saturday, and he will be effectively showing triumph over those shortcomings of spotty poor play and fragility.

Re: Halfcourt Trap

I really appreciate the hoops knowledge you bring, hat. Very good stuff. I love the opening:

Being a man who always tries to accentuate the positive

Re: Guitar shots

Very enjoyable read as usual, Lex. I love the "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" reference. I hope Ainge is also able to pull that off with a performance Saturday that will erase my memory of the backward flip from our endzone in '05.

Please let it be the Vol team that played Georgia and Arkansas that shows up in the dome Saturday. I am pretty hungry for a SEC title myself.

Halfcourt trap:

Hat, thanks as always. I know you admire Ben Howland, and I know he's very successful, but man, that is some dreadful offensive basketball to watch IMO. Their D is tight, but I've never watched a UCLA game where I thought, "This is a thing of beauty." Not that the Vols are pretty either...

lex, this is your most linear (metaphorically perfect from beginning to end, I mean) and poignant effort to date, imo. This was a pleasure to read..a pre-game aphrodisiac.

working on that song, by the way...haven't forgotten.

Did Jordan's popularity put points on the scoreboard? There might not be anything on the face of the Earth I care less about than "popularity."

Both Cutcliffe and Chavis have work to do this week. If either sees the daylight for the next five days, I question their dedication to this program.

Very true.

It made him a whole lot more money, which is something it seems you'd care about.

It's a drop in the ocean compared to MJ, and I would argue Jordan's net worth would still be far greater than Rodman's even if MJ had never won a ring, simply b/c of his "artistic merit."

Possibly. However, Rodman never had to be nice to the humanoids or play nice for Gatorade and Hanes. Being rich and independent is better than being ultra rich and beholden to the masses.

and that is evident with virtually every post you put on the board.

Thanks Allvol. I definitely feel like a novice, but it sure is fun for me.
