There’s no such thing as downhill running in football. Just sayin

Sure there is, you are technically running downhill from the center of the field to the edges. And yes, you could be running uphill from the GL to the 50 and then downhill to the GL.

Come on Fade!

Waiting to see where all this confidence and joy goes when he gets his privates knocked off the first time.

What Is the Crown of a Football Field? | LIVESTRONG.COM

A properly designed grass football field does not lie perfectly flat. The surface of the field often arcs a foot or more from the sidelines to the midfield to allow excess water to drain off. Without a crown, as the raised area is called, a grass football field can become a soupy, dangerous mess.

Technically there is, just sayin. :hi:

Many who have never played do not realize or understand there is a crown in the middle of most football fields.

Took a multitude of muggings last year. Kept getting up and barked back. I’ll go with more of that.

Honestly idk why everybody is down on JG

Most people are not down on JG. Many feel he has great potential. But some, like me, are not ready to induct him in the College Football Hall of Fame, like some posters.

I want him to have success here, because then UT should be successful. i just don't like when people act like he can do no wrong, then get upset when people have reservations or criticism of him.

Academic question here. When one takes two trains worth of exaggeration off the rails, does it register before, after or ever?

Honestly idk why everybody is down on JG, although I am intrigued for Keller Chryst coming in, I think JG has amazing upside and has plenty of potential. Last years offensive line negated everything and was pretty much the whole reason the offense was abysmal. Todd Helton is gonna work wonders for this guy. I’m not saying we’re gonna shock the world but with this kind of staff that we have we are def going to surprise some people. Even tho I’m not expecting a huge jump in the win column, I think we will be much more competitive and keep games respective. 6-6 or 7-5 would be a huge accomplishment for this team. I know we expect more rightfully so but I can see us being a perennial contender in the upcoming years.

I don't think you can necessarily fault the OL for what happened last year. As far as guys making it through our OL it was because our plays were pretty much telegraphed. Our receivers had trouble getting open and JG held the ball too long a lot of times.

I think all of that culminated in our offense being atrocious. I don't think it was just one group or one individual.

That being said with our offensive schemes being less predictible I think whichever QB is playing will have time in the back field to make some decent decisions. (OL won't have to stop a keyed rush every single play)

Vols win 9 games this year. 10 if we win the bowl but I don’t know who the opponent is.

I will list them for you for your viewing pleasure:

West Virginia (our toughest winnable game)
ETSU
UTEP
Florida
South Carolina
Charlotte
Kentucky
Missouri
Vanderbilt

i actually agree with this, although i know i'm in the minority.

I really do think we have a lot of talent that has not been tapped into that will get a chance to shine under this new coaching staff. Not to mention I don't think that this coaching staff will lose games for us by calling very poor in-game decisions. There are at least two games every year that Coach Jones was head coach at Tennessee that we lost because of poor in-game decisions. Not to mention being out-coached by poor preparation given the scheme of the team that we were playing that week.

I hope he keeps the same positive attitude if for some reason Chryst wins the starting QB job. JG looked a lot better in the spring hopefully he has improved even more since then.

If Chryst wins the job, he'd have earned it. Hopefully JG doesn't view it as the end of the road for him at TN. That being said, I think this will be decided by the Florida game.

He is going to be a counselor at the Manning Academy. Ainge was really high on him and what he will do this year. I think he takes a huge leap this year.

Pruitt himself stated that it would be decided by the end of the West Virginia game.

Smart coach. He knows you can scrimmage all you want, watch fun till your eyes bleed, you’ll only really know who your QB is by how he reacts to pressure of live fire defense.

Yep, no one really knows how the QB will react until the bullets are fired live during a game. IMO, JG will start the WV game, but both will play.

Everything is decided after just one game? Really? I hope that's not exactly what he did say.
