Grinders Switch is the home of Minnie Pearl. I'm just so proud to say.

Yep, probably about 30-40 miles from Grinder's Switch.

is there any realationship with the name's of those towns? is it a family name "grinder"? i am not as up to my history of that area. just curios if there is some sort of connection. it seems odd to have names so similar so close together. if you know anything rasputin or anyone else, you have my attention.

I've wondered if there was a relationship between the names, also. I just haven't found or heard anything that says there is, though. I was kind of hoping that one of our educated VN posters would fill us in on the history of these great places.

i had a few minutes to look this up. granted my info comes from a quick search of wikipedia.....so you all can justify how much of a source that may be in your own judgements'. so here is the part that answers my question; " Grinder's Switch was named for the Griner family that lived nearby. Robert Evans Griner and his wife Priscilla Knight lived nearby. Griner is the proper spelling. Priscilla is the last person to have seen Meriwether Lewis alive. Robert and Priscilla moved to this part of Hickman County after Lewis's controversial death."

interesting and it makes the most sense in terms of the names of both towns. so now the question i pose is why was the name moved from griner to grinder?
