Gridiron Now: Vols DE Jonathan Kongbo still waiting to back up tough talk

Be careful visiting Gridiron Now website. When I first started going to the site, it auto-downloaded a PDF file called download.pdf, which is most likely a virus or malware. If you have been to that site, I would recommend looking in your downloads folder to see if you have that file. If you do, delete it immediately. DO NOT OPEN IT!!! If you have opened that file, you probably need to disconnect from the Internet and run a cleaning tool.

I won't be going back to their site. I can't stand spammy websites.

Yea, running wild against JUCO teams doesn't mean you'll come into Div 1 and continue to dominate...Kongbo looks a bit small next to the other guys out there...definitely looks small at DT...if here was better than Barnett or Lewis or Vereen, he'd be playing ahead of them...and now that Phillips is getting healthy, he's gonna be behind another player...

Actually, Kongbo looks the part. And the way he is moving and the effort he is giving, he is not that far off. But he is still learning scheme and technique.

Only problem was the time between Kongbo signing on NSD and the day Butch told him to calm down his bragging on social media. In comparison, Barnett came in saying little but playing well. In fact, Barnett may have said less in 3 years than Kongbo did in a month.

I like Kongbo's confidence, but he would have been better off not letting his mouth write checks until his ass make deposits in his account, and causing every knucklehead to expect more than he is ready to give.

But don't go off the other deep end and call him a bust. It is just a matter of him mentally getting it right out there. And I have high hopes it will come right when we need it most. The big concern is him not becoming mentally constipated, if you get my drift.

I'd never call a kid a bust two games into his first year...we are actually pretty deep at DE so he's not being forced to play before he's ready...this is a kid who didn't play organized football until his senior year of high school so this is his forth year of organized ball...that alone makes me think he has a huge upside...

My comment was more aimed towards those who think he should have stepped right into the starting line up...he may or may not eventually be better than Vereen, Phillips, and Lewis, but right now I think he's behind those guys...
