Hello everyone, with football season only a few long months away I am excited to be a new member of Volunteer nation. I completed my undergraduate work at Clemson this past May, and will be starting at Tennessee College of Law in August. I certainly don't plan on being one of those graduate students who lock themselves at home, I plan on fully immersing myself in the entire Tennessee experience.
I stumbled across this board and have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the insights regarding the incoming football season, bars and nightlife around Knoxville, and the best tailgating spots. I especially enjoyed reading the 130 page long thread on Marlin Lane. It really took me back to earlier this year, as a Clemson student, hating to see him go. But I'm glad I will be able to see him play in Neyland this fall!
I took my first trip to Tennessee in March, and absolutely fell in love with the campus, city, and atmosphere. I knew I wanted to stay with a University that values its sports program, academics, and students. Clemson was a seemingly unbeatable atmosphere on game days, but I fully expect that the Vol faithful can surpass my undergrad experience!
Also, being a new graduate student, and not sure what to expect from the other law students as far as game days are concerned, I would love to meet some people to form or join a tailgate. I always bring my own whiskey or bourbon (whiskey & coke is my favorite cocktail, so you can imagine the smile when I read on these boards just how popular that drink is), and love to cook so of course I'd be happy to contribute. Also, I'm living in an apartment complex right on the river, beautiful view of Neyland and seems like an easy walk to the stadium. The property manager mentioned how they sell the extra parking spots to tail-gaters, so that would be a neat spot to get something started, in my opinion. Anyways, looking forward to becoming a Volunteer!
