If you make it to the VolWalk...you'll leave Knoxville with a UT hat on.

Amen to that! I have see it happen. I took a buddy of mine to a TN/Ga game one year and he was Georgia fan. He ended up buying orange before the end of the game. He is still a Tennessee fan to this day and that was 15 or 16 years ago!

For all those who are unaware, the march to the stadium will no longer go from the music bldg down Volunteer, past the Torchbearer and turning at Hodges. It will now go directly down the Pedestrian Walkway, bypassing Volunteer all together. Salute to the Hill will be the same, but the path to it will change.

Welcome BruinDave. We look forward to having you in Knoxville.

My recommendations for you would be:

1) Friday Night - Go to the Old City. It's not far from your hotel. Check out Barley's for dinner...great pizza place with a lot of beers on tap.

2) Saturday - On the strip, hit up Cumberland Grill/Copper Cellar. Your only a walk from the tailgating and the stadium.

Friend up with some local tailgaters and share some of their grilling. Most groups love to host travelers from the away team.

3) Game Time - Check out the Vol Walk a few hours prior to the game. Make sure you get to the stadium in time to see the Running Through the T

4) After Game - If you are still up for some night life, walk the strip. There are some cool spots there and it will be lively.

5) Sunday - have lunch at Sunspot on the strip. Great menu and they bring out chips and some green tomato salsa to your table.

Also, second Daddy Gee. If you have the opportunity to get out to Toddy's (~3 miles west of campus), go check it out. Liquor store in the front, bar in the back. And they have horseshoes out back.

Hope you guys have a great time in Knoxville.

I thought they split them up? I didn't go in last time but I'm sure I saw a separate liquor store

i purchased the tickets through my season ticket package, so i'm sure they will be in the official visitor section. haven't received actual tickets yet.

I am flyin in from John Wayne with bruin fan named Dave fir the game. He'll be the guy asleep in the bar around midnight.
Last year at the rose bowl he pulled his calf muscle after cheering when we lost in ot, it was fantastic.

Copper Cellar is good eatin'. Is O'Charley's on the strip still there? I haven't been in Knoxville in several years, but it always seemed to have some decent crowds and nightlife going on. But whatever you do, stay away from Magnolia Ave(where the bus station is), that is not a good area of town.

I'm taking my fiance to this game. It's her first Neyland experience. I'm extremely pumped!!! I was at the 1996 Tennessee/UCLA game in Knoxville as an 11 year old, and it is still one of my favorite memories. It was probably the time when my blood first turned orange. Looking forward to a great game! V,B!

And yea, don't go to Calhouns...

Just to add to the must-see VolWalk, I would recommend getting to the Hill early and getting a spot on the crosswalk to get a nice bird's eye view of the whole thing.

Yeah the take-offs are very odd due to wealthy Newport beach residents.

Well arrive on campus early. I'm usually 3 bloody marys into it by about 8 am.. not sure how you west coast boys do it haha. Then it's on to some Tennessee Whiskey and heading to the only riverside tailgate in the nation with the Vol Navy. You won't experience anything like it anywhere else my friend, I guarantee that. Eat some BBQ at Calhouns, enjoy some of the finest tradition in college football, and then go watch UT do what we do (and should have done last year).. show ucla that WE are THE MIGHTY VOLS.

..make sure to tell your players that ours are mad as hell and we will show no mercy. GOOD LUCK to ya and hope you enjoy our great state.

Don't know why so many are putting down Calhouns? It is a great location, close to the stadium, next to the river and Vol Navy. The food is good, not great, but everyone has different taste. I do know my BBQ, and it is not bad, but I have had better. Go sit out on the deck and have a few cold ones, and you will not be dissappointed!!!!

Have a Tennessee friend get you some BBQ at Chandlers (the best BBQ in town). Terrible part of town, not an area you want to get lost in. Calhouns' quality is nothing special. Still a nice location and good place to have a beer and socialize.

You are confusing the Salute to the Hill and the Vol Walk.
