There’s no clear measure. Certainly you would think winning 58 games, the SEC regular season championship and the SEC tournament with numerous team, conference and league records being broken all would put them clearly in the discussion. However, do we have to win the big one to reach greatness? That’s 60 games.

Thoughts?

Mine are, if we do, we perhaps were just blessed with the greatest team in CFB history. Regardless, this is the best team in Tennessee history.

Winning 60 games, SEC reg season, SEC championship, and the CWS would cement this team as one of the greatest college squads to ever play the game.

I think VOLS have already achieved greatness with the records broken and the fact we are going to the finals. I will say that I will be very surprised if next year isn't a rebuild year for Tony, and if we aren't as great as we have been, it's because we've lost most of the class.

Bucking history by winning the CWS, something a #1 hasn't done in since 1999 would place this team beyond greatest...a new high bar set by those wearing the Orange. Then conversation becomes Tennessee the last #1 to win it all..that is until we do it again.

This fan base may be the greatest pre-champions in college.

What's with these threads on the same topic started by folks with muscles in their avatar?

Ha thanks! That’s me! Albeit I’m not quite that big anyways. Where’s the other thread about this? And man, I thought my life was boring, but I’ve yet to become a troll.

Just to be in this position does so much for the program. The national spotlight in the big 3 sports is worth its weight in gold. The University of Tennessee will be a spotlight in a slow time sports landscape this weekend with an abundance of eyeballs. Recruits and parents from all over the country in all sports will get some Big Orange in their eyes and ears and that is what makes this team great.

If Tennessee wins the CWS, it will be the record for the most wins ever for a college baseball team. No college team has ever won 60 games in a season.
See, I thought this too, but when looking at all time records I saw that the 1983 Texas Longhorns team went 66-14, but if you google most wins in a season it says the Arizona Wildcats hold the wins record with 58 from 1986. Maybe someone with more baseball history knowledge such as yourself could ellaborate or explain this to me?

Probably regular season vs post season and relative to a specific era. I hadn’t heard 60 wins would be the most ever. Still, the competition is so thick these days that 60 wins today is a greater feat IMO. Let’s just get there!

I think Wichita State won 73 one year

The broadcasters for the Tennessee/FSU make the comment during that 2nd game between them. I didn't do any research to find out if true or not, just wrote what they said. I would think should research something before they put it out there. My apologies if my response is not accurate.
