Most UT sports fans are football first, where the name of the game is to avoid losing. Witness TCU - they were one Bama collapse from playing in the NC game.

It's the opposite in basketball. Losing (especially early) isn't a big deal IF you've proven you can beat some of the best teams in the country. If you lose b/c you just suck, well...

As deplorable as Friday night's loss was/still is, it's nowhere as damaging as a loss in football - any loss. Nowhere close.

So for all the football-first fans out there (of which there are many), take heart in the fact that this team still has two better wins than any other team thus far.

And let's hope they rebound and beat USC before they believe those two great wins (and not the two bad losses) were the anomalies.

I'm sure we are going to drop completely out of some voters top 25.......I think we end up in the 17-22 range

IMO the Charlotte loss hurts more than the Oakland one

we'll be out of the top 25. too many good teams playing well that need to be ranked instead of u t. doesn't matter now anyway.

we will not be out of the top 25... As hard it is to believe the Oakland game was not absolutely horribly loss. There is a reason they call those games a trap game. As for the the charlotte loss, yes it was bad but nothing to ruin the two big wins we have had so far. Better to lose now than in march

in another thread, i predicted 10 losses. i was crushed, people blasted me. having said that i believe we will lose under 10. i think the last games sent a huge wake up call. imo their eyes have been opened, let's just hope the coaching staff opens their eyes too. i realize that we are young, so let them learn with trail by fire. that may help later in the season.

The Oakland loss isnt that bad really. They will win the Summit League and have a winning record with a decent RPI. The Charlotte loss, however, will hurt. They will have a losing record and will likely be in the bottom four of the A-10 this year. They have already split with ECU. Either way, its not going to affect tournament chances barring any big time setback during conference play.

Yea, they only lost to the powerhouse Michigan by 18 over the weekend. That loss looks better all the time.

Once they start league play, theyll have a pretty legit looking record with a great RPI and some quality wins. It looks great compared to that UNCC loss.
