I love Tee and all, but I just feel that it doesn't really matter what our past players think of Kiffin.

Tee does this interview about as well as he did on the sports show. :snoring:

It would be nice if our past players buried the hatchet.

Fulmer lost his job because he lost too many games that he should have won and lost his way at winning championships. Kiffin did not take CPF's job away from him, but instead was deemed the best person UT could hire to get the program back to where it once was.

I supported Fulmer until the UCLA game last year when it became obvious to me that the program was heading in the wrong direction (and I realize it had been going that way for some time prior to that game). But, UCLA was a pathetic football team last year and there was simply no excuse for us to lose that football game.

If it comes out that CPF has encouraged his past players to make Kiffin's transition more difficult than CPF already has, my view of the Fulmer years will get much uglier in a hurry. And, that's likely the case for almost anyone who bleeds orange. We simply want to win football championships again and are confident we have the program and infrastructure to do so. Is that so hard to understand?

If CPF wants to do what's right for UT football, he needs to give up on the notion that Kiffin will be leaving soon and he will get the nod to come back to the program. That's not going to happen no matter who the AD is. After CPF has come to grips with reality, he needs to contact his former players and get them behind the program.

I'm growing tired or reading negative comments from players who I absolutely loved to watch when they played for the Vols and Tee Martin is certainly one of my all time favorites. If ever there was a former Vol who could relate to the uphill battle that Kiffin is trying to fight to get the program back on track, I would have guess Tee is that man.

I'm getting a sense that Fulmer is still trying to divide the fan base... and considering he said he was stepping down to prevent that from happening, he needs to be true to his word with his deeds.

Enough is enough... Kiffin is our head football coach.

What are your thoughts on us walking on the moon? What about the September 11th attacks? Holocaust?

I guess you are right. Because Tee has done very little for the program.
I wish they all supported Kiffin too, but they dont.
I for one am interested in all thier opinions.
Why?
Cause they know more about fball and the program than any of us.

+1.
but couldn't it also be argued that martin is a kiffen guy and kiffen asked martin to speak negatively about him to create contraversy, get people talking about UT more and get recruits? as part of the master plan?

why are you guys getting so mad at these guys for having an opinion.
cpf was the closest things some of the guys had for a father.
They are entitled to thier opinion of clk as much as we are, they gave more to the program than any of us.

I respect the fact they speak thier minds.

before you call me a fulmer supporter, i support and like CLK.

also if you are going to write a page response and support the new coach spell the damn name right

I mean seriously these guys can't interview and say yeah it was a good Move by the University Fulmer had lost his grip and was not the same coach anymore......Of course they are going to say their love for Fulmer...They just like all the others who he babied while in College wanted to see whats best for Papa Fulmer!
His day has come and gone......In some form of fashion I see Fulmer acting like Majors for the rest of his life. Always saying they could have coached another year or 2 before they got let go....Blah Blah Blah...
Everything is based on if Kiffin Wins!
We Win games=more/better recruits=Kiffin keeps Job=Hamilton looks like hero=Whole world forgets about Fulmer.

"Great Read" is a little strong. I didn't really feel anything after reading that blog. 2 minutes of my life; gone.

I have immense respect for Tee Martin, and appreciated his many contributions to the program, the university and the community.

However, I do not believe that a former player is most qualified to best determine who should be the head football coach, any more than a sailor is best-suited to determine who should captain a ship where they previously served.

Both the continued admiration which former players feel for PF, and their seeming disdain for CLK should be expected, especially considering the disparity in their respective personalities and philosophies. It's difficult to imagine that the "type" of player that was enamored enough with PF would prefer CLK, and vice versa.

It's like firing Barry Manilow mid-concert and bringing out Tenacious D to finish the set - for the first few minutes, there'd be some pretty upset folks who prefer the rhythmic beat of Copacabana (great song, BTW).

There's nothing wrong with Manilow.
There's certainly nothing wrong with the D.
Nothing wrong with the individual preferences of their respective fanbases, either.
Some just prefer one over the other.

Of course, the fact that CLK has no former players (that he hasn't booted) may also somewhat inhibit his ability to have former players rush to his defense in similiar fashion.

P.S. - Of course, after having taken the stage from Manilow, The D would proceed to rock out with their **** out - and before the first verse of, "Cosmic Shame" had even been put to bed, the crowd would have already experienced a mormon-like conversion. But until that point, there would be those in crowd who were trading awkward glances. Until the level of rock reached the "blinding" stage.

I was not attacking Tee, but I'm just pointing out the common link among former UT players who are speaking out against Kiffin.

What has Fulmer done to ease the transition? What has he done to help reunite the Vols fan base? He's done NOTHING! Johnny Majors has done a lot more. He might take a lead from CJM.

Both coaches may be showing their true colors, finally. Fulmer needs to man up. He's had enough time to lick his wounds. The self-pity act needs to stop.

There is an undeniable theme of wait and see with Kiffin and Co. from players close to Fulmer. I won't go into theories on why that is, but I will say that it is completely distasteful.

Oh I agree with you! I think they all need to get behind the program and quit with the negative attitudes toward anything about the new beginnings. But once we start winning everyone's negative opionion will fade away.

I'm sure you wandered over to a Florida site and admonished them for their participation.

How is a "wait and see" approach distasteful? That's the approach I have to Kiffin and Co. I'm optimistic, but I'm not ready to give them my first born child the way that some folks are willing to.

They create a short list of other historical events that you don't believe happened either.

Oh, so I'm the consipiracy theorist in all of this because I don't believe that Fulmer has been holding secret meetings with old players and telling them to be cold to Kiffin?
