I AM SOOOOOOOO PROUD TO BE A VOL!!!!This one may be a long one....... where do I begin with my basketVOLS?
We'll start with the beginning of the year. So many questions about our personnel. Who is this Chism? and who is that Crews? or that one oh i forgot his name.. Tabb? So many youngsters having to grow up in a hurry if we want to do anything this year.. Some say I will be happy with a tourney birth.. others say I will be happy to finish decent in the SEC East. I say by Gosh I don't care where we end up I am gonna scream and holler like anything to help this team, MY team and YOUR team.... Started out rocky with losses to Butler and UNC, but we bounced back we found our stroke and off we went, Exceeding everyone's expectations mine included. Was Pearl a fluke or was he the real deal? Was this team gonna be the team that let us down or followed up an unbelievable season with another.. Well by george this team made me so proud to say I am a Vol.. Even after I was so pumped about being up by 20 at one point, only to be brought to the ground with almost tears a few minutes later, I was proud to be a vol. I am STILL proud to be a vol. I don't know what hurt worse seeing a lead fall away or the fact that i watched MY vols and YOUR vols play their last game this year, in a game that was ours. I love Bruce Pearl and I love this team. Next year by God people better watch out because I think this team will have this bad taste in their mouth all off season,. Everytime they touch a weight they will have this loss on their mind. Every time they take a shot they will have this loss on their mind. Everytime they run a sprint, or practice defense they will have this loss in the back of their minds. This team will come out hungry next year, wanting to take it to another level, to prove they belong, to prove they are worthy of being ranked after beating florida at home in a crucial time. As for me it is gonna take alot to get over this loss as a fan, but imagine the hurt our guys carry. I hope these guys come out next year not only hoping to make the tourney but to turn some heads in the process. Pearl was pissed, I was pissed, The whole Vol following was pissed, and deeply hurt that this joyous ride came to a bitter end. I guess what hurts the most is watching our guys giving everything thing they had all year to reach this point only to be denied in a game that was ours for the taking. My heart goes out for them, my heart goes out to Dane our emotional leader, our heart and our soul. With that said I would like to say "thank you" guys for a great season for making us proud. We WILL be back!!
As bad as I feel right now I wouldn't trade being a VOL for anything in this world. This team has made us proud, This team has made me proud, this team has made me proud to be a VOLUNTEER. I said its great to be a Tennessee VOL!
