Hopefully this win will get the Vols back on track. While an upset would have been nice, realistically we just wanted the team to compete well and come out with no injuries as we have a short week to get ready for Memphis coming to town Thursday night. The Vol O-line was totally dominant, we could get no pass rush at all, which put a lot of pressure on our good secondary all night. Costly mistakes and dumb penalties hurt us every week, this game no exception, but UT did what they needed to do to get the win. Congrats and thanks for letting me hang around this week.

Ya'll should take down Memphis. Seeing them at 1-3 would be a joy. Please help with this. :)

Oh we fully expect to hammer them. Memphis is our biggest rival in football in/out of conference and a win over a C-USA team would be a good way to enter conference play. If this team plays its cards right we shouldnt get another tough challenge until Troy comes to town down the road.

They are super pissed about the game being canceled two weeks ago... So ya'll need to show them (by kicking their asses) that it wasn't because you were scared.

THEY are the ones scared pretty much. ASU offered to play the game the next day but Tommy West refused that. He offered to play it at the end of the season and we declined that. You can bet stAte will be ready for them. Watch the ticker Thursday night and see the fun.

I have many friends who attend Memphis. I would love nothing more than to see them get beat by ya'll once more.

Very gracious thread. Did y'all ever get all the cars out of the mud from the original night you were supposed to play Memphis? After the way Central Florida trashed the Tigers today, I'm thinking your guys will throttle them as well... Good luck...

UCF will be in a BCS conference sooner rather than later. The on campus stadium, and the way they are going to start dominating CUSA is not going to go unnoticed.

Yeah but it took a few days to get them all out. That night, ASU picked up the tab on wrecker tows, but after that owners were on their own.

We have a decent chance to win out and go 10-2 as the only teams that can really challenge us in the Sun Belt are Troy and FAU. Everyone else is winless, at least were before tonight...heh.

I saw that on the news. Makes ya wonder what kind of dumbass would leave their car stuck in the mud overnight when they could get it pulled out that night free..

What a lot of us wondered too since it was announced on the PA it was a FREE service. There was an armada of towtrucks out there that night but some for whatever reason chose not to use them. Yeah pretty dumb.

Well we maybe couldve made it closer but it would have meant almost a perfect game on our part and ASU fans werent really expecting that at this point. Right now we still have issues with dumb penalties and depth along the O and D lines which showed tonight. UT has the depth and we dont yet and probably wont for a few more years. Fortunately everyone else left on our schedule is pretty much in the same shape we are which levels the playing field. Of course next year we open on the road at Texas A&M and Nebraska so I hope it(depth) happens sooner.

Yeah dumb penalties have been a problem with ASU for a few years now. We led the nation in penalties last year. One correction I should make in stead of Nebraska next year we get Penn State along with T. A&M. Nebraska is in '09.

asuato, if you and another or two of ASU visitors here this week are any indication, you guys are some of the classiest fans we've seen around here in a while. Take care, please visit (we have a number of very regulars who support other teams as you may've noticed), and best of luck to the Indians from here on out.

BTW, any insider info on what your new nick and mascot might be starting next year?

No one has any idea on what the new nickname will be yet. Officially, a consulting firm was hired to study the issue and give some ideas which will be presented sometime after the new year. Then, supposedly a list of the best ones will be selected for voting by alumni and current students, faculty and staff. But mum is the word from the powers that be. There are some ideas floating around the ASU message board but probably none will see the light of day. The one people seem to like, Red Wolves, is the name of an Alabama Indian tribe so that one is pretty much dead in the water.

I have one question for you though, what in the world was your Mascot. I took a picture and ill post it on here VN, but that was the funniest looking mascot I've ever seen. I dont think it looked anything like an Indian, if thats what it was supposed to have looked like! Then again I remember that you all where supposed to change it, but anyways what was it?

It was RED and had a "Headdress" going on. It was an indian. A terribly offensive indian, but an indian nonetheless.
