Well Nappy met his match, and then the French started with leaders in the Hammy/Hart/Currie vein and military leaders that might have learned from Dooley and Jones.

You know the French planted trees along the roads so the Germans could march in the shade.

They only got back in Vietnam and lasted as long as they did because of US support; we bought their friendship to keep their socialist tendencies from aligning with the USSR after WW2.

Even assuming the reputation is correct, they may be bad at war, but between Champagne, French Fries, Cognac, and tongue kisses, there's no denying they're great at life.
