Got to think that Clawson is out as well. No coach in their right mind would retain the OC of a team with an offense like ours. We will never know what could have been.

It really sucks that Clawson left a head coaching job only to get a one year chance as a coordinator.

Hopefully he can find another coaching job.

He got a 3 year contract if i'm not mistakin. I assume we'll just pay him off. Not a bad gig for him after all. Obviously he wished it would have worked out but he could end up with over a mil for one season of garbage...

Guess he shoulda been reading VN board before accepting the big date, huh?

Its too bad for clawson. but he really appeared to be in over his head all season long. he has not developed his qbs well, he never established an identity as oc. he probably is out of here and i personally am glad to see his high school offense on the way out.

Yep, three years, he will leave with a big check and will land on his feet somewhere.

I feel bad for him to but he's got a great resume so I don't think he'll have too hard of a time finding a job...He turned around two programs...UT was his only blemish.

Clawson will be a mid tier D-1 coach one day and do damn well at it. I don't think he is an elite coach, but a good one.

I dont feel sorry for him, he is just in over his head and its painfully obvious, he was a bad selection that hepled fulmer do himself in.

I got an idea. See if he will take the UTC job. If your going to pay him, try and keep him in the system. I know it ain't happening, but if he could get UTC to anywhere near the Richmond program, his stock would soar back up to the elite status.

So, if some big corporation came to you an offered you a ton of money to come work from them, you'd let them know you thought you were unqualified and walk away....

I wanted Clawson to succeed, of course, and based on what little I know of him, have been impressed. But, guys, the guys has played a large role in the debacle that is our offense. He's the OC! As happy as I am that Fulmer is retiring, I think if Clawson really knew what he was doing he would have gotten something out of this offense. Even if Fulmer meddles, I'm quite sure, as bad as we've been on offense, that he's given Clawson plenty of rope with which to try and fix things--and it hasn't happened. Our lack of skill talent is part of the problem, for sure--but we are not fundamentally sound at all, don't execute the basics, and there is no doubt Clawson deserves some blame if not a lot of blame.

if you think that clawson's playcalling was the only thing wrong with the offense this season you're way off. players didn't execute, the o-line has sucked in both run and pass blocking, both stephens and crompton have been missing reads all season. i could go on and on. some of this falls on clawson, yes, but he doesn't deserve all of the blame.

I don't feel sorry for him. He knew what he was getting himself into and knows how the business works. He'll have a nice check waiting for him and whoever the new coach is might keep him around as QB coach for all we know. He DID know from the get go that Crompton wasn't going to work and tried to bench him after a half of live football. I think he's doing the best with what he has at the position and he could have brought his QB from Richmond to do what we've done.

Clawson and Scott are responsible for a lot of these recruits. Don't be surprised if they try to keep them on.

Could they hire Mike Gundy, and let him bring Trooper Taylor back with him? He and Clawson Co-Offense Coordinators???? Don't think it will happen, but just a thought.

Clawson needs to go back to small ball---his game isn't ready for the SEC.

Don't let the door hit ya on your way out. Good luck with the Austin Peays of the world. Thanks for butchering our Offense.

Are you sure about that? Our new coach will make a clean sweep. It will be a catharsis. Trust me, with a fan base this frustrated and intense pressure from boosters, no coach would retain an OC after the offensive year we've had.
