Good read on Lane Kiffin -- 2006

Hey guys, new member here. I've been following the boards here for a while, but recent events in the Big Orange universe have convinced me to join up with the Vol Nation.

What I find most interesting about that 2006 article is how glowing the praise of Kiffin's coaching ability is, both with the description of his football pedigree and the stats for USC's offense. Fast forward to today, when naysayers and critics insist that Kiffin "isn't proven", or is "too young", "too inexperienced." Funny how things change, hmm?

I found that interesting too. He was the young genuis in 2006, now he forgot everything he ever knew about football because he went to work for Al Davis.

that is a good article. of course, the naysayers will say that all of the success is on sarkisian, instead of kiffin.

nothing is certain, but i think the odds are very high that our O under kiffin will be vastly improved.

The lesson should be, and I think Kiffin gets this, media approval is not as important as success. Stick to your long-term goals and the success will come with the wins. If 2009 turns out to be a good season for the Vols, no one will remember who said what to some boosters back in January.

Good post.

The media loves to be on the bandwagon. If we go 9-3 or 10-2 next year, Kiffin will be the "hot" coach in the media.

What is with the hate of the chest bumps? I'm sure people who hate the chest bump, thought it was a terrorist fist pound as well.

sorta like 12 is a vast understatement for the number of universally unanimous intergalactic college football championships that AL has, right?
