Good news yesterday

Our schedule is a lot harder in both non conference and conference play. We’re gonna be tested every weekend. It will payoff come post season.

We got a few positions up for grabs. It will come down to who can and can’t hit.

Let's face it. Our offense is just average this year. Our great hitters are gone. Pitching will be the key this year.

Facts are a long road trip across the country, 9 innings of baseball against a quality pitcher and team, and opening day jitters for 8 new position players doesn’t mean offensive futility. It’s a long season for a reason.

SPONTANEOUS FIREWORKS !!! Last year's team spoiled us all because they had 9 batters every game that could erupt at any time and score runs and more runs. Last year every player in the lineup could get it started and the rest of the team would feed off the momentum and keep it rolling. I know it's just ONE GAME but I just didn't see any sparks last night and that has me concerned. Hopefully they can "light it up" tonight. GBO !!!

Opened the season against a regional team. Merritt and Ahuna will change the lineup. With our pitching depth, we can beat anybody.

Hate to say it, but South Carolina looks great this weekend. UMass-Lowell isn’t a bad group, and they’re putting up 20 on em back to back.

I didn’t say they were amazing or even good. They just weren’t bad and return quite a bit YoY that should build on last year’s stats.

Putting up 20 back to back is noteworthy?
Not really, those smaller schools don’t have the pitching. I’m actually glad our non conference schedule is more competitive than last year.

Umass has several pitchers and position players that play in elite summer leagues (Cape Cod/Northwoods). Agree to disagree.

To me, SC and Bama looked pretty good. LSU, Vandy, Georgia, and Kentucky are disappointing this weekend.

Baseball is a marathon. Not a race. Zero concerns about the Vols hitting or defense. Pitching is the strong suite, but the rest will come around. We could have played PoDunk U this weekend, got the sweep and not be any better. This team will get better.
