I won't lie some of these Vol Greats were before my time, but of the ones I can remember I would put Ainge on an even playing field with the bolded ones above...not better but in the same overall catagory:zeitung_lesen:

or "throw it up for grabs" Kelly either.

Kelly had multiple SECCs. The 2001 team with Clausen at QB had a shot at a NC. To be fair, Ainge would have been better on either of the teams those QBs played for but he was pretty good in 2006. I'd say Kelly, Ainge, Clausen in that order for talent level.

That's a good point. Without a freakishly strong arm and good mobility/pocket presence, Favre is pretty much the perfect example of what not to do.

Does that good pocket presence include throwing it up for grabs? He led the league in INTs on a team that had a strong running game.

Trust me, you don't have to sell me on Farve's downside. I've never been a fan. I just see him as a grossly overrated attention whore. I was just agreeing that Favre is not the person that Ainge needs to be learning from, because any rookie who came in and did the things that Favre does would get benched and never see the field again.

Ainge was twice the QB Tee Martin could ever hope to be.

Uhh... :eek:lol:

Tee was our last All SEC quarterback. From the GA game through the end of 98, he was also one of the most efficient qb's in the country.

In 1999, he was SEC player of the week in consecutive weeks, and probably could've won it a 3rd week in a row for the ND game. Played one of the best games I've ever witnessed against Alabama, and carried us against Georgia with both arms and legs. Had a bad game vs. Auburn, but was playing with a seperated shoulder and sprained non-throwing wrist. Got all his teeth knocked out in the FL game, and then brought back from a 23-7 deficit in the second half. Named 1st team all conference and a finalist for the Davey O'Brien award.
