I used to be a season ticket holder for football, so I've been to Knoxville plenty (I live in Spartanburg, SC). However, this is my first basketball game. My tickets aren't great, section 324 row 20 lol.

My girlfriend wants to spend the night friday night since it's a noon game is the issue. I've never stayed in Knoxville.. I've always driven up and home the day of games. What's a good, cheap hotel to stay at? I'm 23 and don't have a lot of money to blow, so keep that in mind with recommendations. Thanks guys

No idea what they cost, but try the Red Roof and the La Quinta on Kirby Road at the Papermill/Northshore exit. Park at the AG Campus and take the free shuttle.

You might find a cheaper room at a Merchants Road hotel, but you'd be more likely to have somebody break into your car and overdose inside of it as well.

Gimme an idea of price I can easily find something. Or check maybe clarion inn, mainstay suites, sleep inn, over on merchants drive. Very reasonable.

The Sevierville exit area off I-40 has several cheap prospects. Strawberry Plains exit has a lot too and is closer. A new Best Western...70 bucks includes breakfast.

Yes Straw Plains exit 398 has a good selection on places to stay and eat.
Yes ...we don’t usually stay in hotels when we come but we did stay in Straw Plains once last year for football game and it was nice and convenient. By the way OP plan on staying for the baseball game too. We’ll be there!!

Straw Plains is rural and far enough east to avoid the east side riff raff.

Papermill Road is barely more than 5 minutes away. There is also a Holiday Inn Express, a Hampton, and 2 or 3 others that are fancier. I'd check the Red Roof and La Quinta prices. Red Roof is a remodeled Holiday Inn and the La Quinta was built just a couple years ago.

There's a 1982 World's Fair hotel the next exit west (West Hills) and 3 or 4 more at the Cedar Bluff exit. Cedar Bluff has a growing homeless population. It's not an issue at Papermill and I would guess isn't bad at Straw Plains. But Merchants Road and Cedar Bluff... hold on to your purse.

You can get a 3 star (Red Roof, etc.) in the Market Place area of Cedar Bluff for about $80 plus taxes. Several bars/eateries nearby.

You should look at Emory rd 2 exits noth on 75 from Merchants. It has a couple good hotels. Merchants isn't as bad as some are saying, the next exit up Callahan is where I would stay away from especially the Scottish Inn.
