Listened to Doug Matthews podcast of Big Orange Sunday on 104.5. Would advise everyone to do so.

Doug said that there are several areas that need cleaning up for this to be a championship (sec) team. Did not show improvement from the previous week. Some things can and must improve, and some things might not improve due to injuries.

Offensively, we are in good shape but we need to change the time of possession to our favor. Right now, we are minus 4.5 minutes per game. He said that the left OT remains a weak spot and will not be capable of blocking either of A&M's very good DE's. Just overmatched there.

MLB and OLB on Defense are only average and doing the best they can to their credit. Survived so far, but the Aggies will undoubtedly try to exploit the middle with Reeves-Maybin and Kirkland injured. Said our CB play has not been real good and right corner a concern with Sutton unable to play. Indicated that playing man defense against A&M presented problems and zone coverage just doesn't allow the D to blitz.

The main thing is that the next 2 games will require us to play well and play complete games, and not simply strong 2nd halves.

OT: I have been listening to Vince Scully's final broadcast on MLB. 67 seasons in the broadcast booth beginning when the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn when many of us were children and most of us probably were not even born yet.

Dude.

5-0 for the first time in 18 years...

Let's enjoy this week, plz

Nothing wrong with discussing the team/program IMO. Yeah, we're all thrilled with 5-0 and I'm beyond enjoying both that and yesterday's great win. But, as coach Mathews (and Kippy Brown) discussed this morning, we still have room for improvement and we're gonna need to get better to keep it going.

Of course. Winning yesterday's game on the final play and avenging the Munson hobnail ecstasy from 2001 was a moment to remember in the annals of Vol history.

But there are things to work on if the winning streak continues.

I always feel like I am walking on eggshells posting here. Volnation is a terrific team site. But there are some very immature posters here that make it difficult to fully enjoy. It's like you are offending their sensitivities to post a thing that suggests this team and coaches have anything that needs improvement.
