Those who were bashing Butch for not going for two, and praising Johnson for it -- and those who planned to bash Butch had we lost -- it's not always the answer.

ps. I secretly wanted us to go for two. lol

Well Freak I am one who said to go for two at the start and I would again against GT. I have no confidence in the defense that had been run over for about 600 yards and a school record. JMO!:)

All hail Paul Bain..... he blocked the attempted game winning GT FG! :pepper:

It made sense for GT to go for 2 when they did. With that said it would of made sense for us to go for it in the first OT and with that being said if we had and didn't get it, yes I probably would of posted fahr butch!

I'm glad we won but I absolutely would NOT have been mad if we went for two and didn't make it. I really wouldn't. I also think Paul Johnson made the right call there at the end. I hope GT fans aren't mad for that decision. He played to win. Butch played not to lose. It worked out for us tonight but I'd much rather have a coach with the stones to pull that trigger.

I would have gone for two when we tied it at 28-28. I just didn't have faith in our defense to stop them at all. Good win so it all worked out for the VOLS.

Speaking of going for two...

Maybe you could ask Google to use two extra large servers or something for the next game day traffic.

Unreal how it ended. I wanted to see Butch go for two as well, and just knew GT would after how easy it was all game for them to get 3+ yards at will. Taylor was a beast all night. Thanks to GT for calling a play going right at him, and thanks to Shoop for having him lined up there.

It actually is a winner only around 1/3 of the time. But, given the way our defense was playing, I would have taken those odds and gone for it to.

But, many think it is guaranteed, and it is far from it.

I hear ya. It worked out though. Fortunately.

With all of the great plays, I had already forgotten about Bain. He's now officially a VolNation legend. We'll have a gif of him blocking that field goal that will be posted for years to come.

I'm on it. I knew we would have issues. I had to move servers over the summer and there's just no way to simulate the kind of traffic we get until it happens.

I know what needs to be done, I just didn't want to take the server down during the game, regardless of how slow it was.

This is why you do not do it.

I had the exact same thought. Get out while you can since the D couldn't stop them all night. In the end, I guess they just needed to stop them once!

The other arm chair coaching critique would have been to NOT try to ice the kicker. In this case, it worked out in our favor but I think kickers essentially expect to get that 1st reprieve and might be a bit shocked when then snap suddenly showed up at their feet.

I was screaming at the tv to go for it. In hindsight, glad we didn't

I agreed with Kirbie and though CBJ should have tried. I didn't think we could stop them once it got to 3rd OT and you HAVE to go for 2. Had CBJ called it and we lost I wouldn't have been mad at him for that.

Kudos to Johnson for going for it. He knew there was no stopping us either. I'm just glad we mustered up the will to blow it up.
