Just got back from seeing it at the IMAX (the REAL IMAX, not that AMC junk!)

In short, I'm speechless!! This movie is superb!! It's not just a great Godzilla movie, it's a great movie, period! Run, don't walk, to your nearest IMAX and see this movie the way it deserves to be seen! If you don't have an IMAX near you, my condolences! Minus One is now the standard bearer by which all Godzilla movies will be judged! The highest compliment I can give it is that its the "Jaws" of Godzilla movies!
10/10!

It's not just hype. It's well deserved! I'm still gobsmacked by how good this movie is!

I'm definitely not keeping up much with new movies if I haven't heard of this. From the trailers, this looks awesome, and I'll take your word for it and check it out in the next week or so.

"Jaws" is a good comparison. People shouldn't go into it expecting your typical monster movie. A lot of time is spent building the human characters, which actually works because Godzilla is not their buddy this time around. He is a menace. His atomic breath is particularly nasty. I kinda winced the first time he used it (well it was more like a teaser the first time he uses it).

Also bear in mind that it is a foreign film, so be prepared to read subtitles if that kind of thing bothers you.

Surprised that this was made on only a $15m budget. Hollywood could probably stand to learn a few things.

Really good movie..

English dubs would've ruined the emotional weight of the film! The performances by the Japanese actors, in their own language are so great! I'm glad it's subtitles only.

I didn't realize the budget was so small! 15 million, yowza! Kudos to the director! Talk about a master class in economical storytelling!

Yeah I think dubs are great for video games, but for films like these, voiceovers ruin the weight of the characters. Doesn't matter how good the voice actors are, it kills submersion. Like I can't watch Red Cliff with dubs.

Perfect movie. Exactly what I wanted. The cruiser scene felt I was there on another boat and watching it. No notes

I've never seen a Godzilla movie that was worth a rewatch, so that's a low bar but everybody is going nuts for this movie. Can't wait to see

No kidding. I always kinda hate when the buzz is this loud as I don't want my expectations to get unreasonable but damn.

The American movies are garbo for sure and it's tough to get past the hokeyness of some of the older Japanese ones. However Shin Godzilla which was from 2016 was great.

This movie was an absolute blast. Not often that a monster/disaster/action movie can also have those emotionally intense scenes that carry as much weight as the action. Loved it!

The original King Kong vs Godzilla is a cinematic masterpiece
I absolutely love the 1962 King Kong VS Godzilla movie! That was actually the movie that introduced me to the franchise back when I was a little kid. To this day it's still way up there for me! Yes, it's cheesy as hell and the special effects aren't so special. But still, there's a charm to it!

For me now my top 5 Godzilla movies are

1. Godzilla Minus One
2. Godzilla (the original)
3. King Kong VS Godzilla
4. GMK: All Out Attack
5. Godzilla 2000

I finally got around to seeing it tonight. What an epic movie! 👏 My buddy mentioned how spot on it was compared to respecting the original. I'm a Godzilla newbie, but I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the redemption story of doing things for the good after World War 2. A good mix of drama and typical action you'd expect from this type of movie.

I highly recommend it!!

My 5 year old nephew is obsessed with Godzilla so his dad took him to see it. Despite being subtitled the nephew said “It’s the best one I’ve ever seen!”

But he was traumatized that Godzilla stepped on a house that apparently had a puppy in it.
