So with everyone having opinions on CJP’s performance last night let’s go on record about his future here. Personally I like the guy but have this feeling that something isn’t right in our program. I think that there is not enough data to determine his trajectory as HBC here.

Too early to tell, but I I’m not optimistic based on what I have, and have not seen, these first 4 games.

Fingers crossed, I guess.

Not really enough information but I put that he will succeed. I don’t see how he can’t succeed with Fulmer helping with the backend stuff. Pruitt just has to do what he does best and coach.

He's trying to build on the "Bama Model". Big, physical line play; big, fast, physical RB's, WR's, LB's, and DB's. Line up and wear 'em down. 3-4, I-formation, play-action. Blitz, and bomb away.

Problem is, we ain't got much in the way of big, fast, and physical. On top of that, there's a percentage of this roster that, Rivals rating and physical attributes aside, are just plain soft, or spoiled, or both. We saw that last year, and we saw it again yesterday.

So I am now of the opinion that it will take roster turnover, where roughly 75% of our roster is Pruitt-style recruits, before we will see meaningful gains in the football fortunes of UT. We might see a couple of changes on the staff, or at least in the way they teach, scheme, and coach, but I am convinced that it is absolutely going to take roster turnover to produce the wins at a level that will see us back on top in the SEC...East.

Sometimes, you just gotta burn it down and start over. After these next four games, we'll know how bad it is, or ain't. In all likelihood, the full meltdown isn't over yet. Weeding out the weak on a team as weak as this one will take time.

Meanwhile...time to melt a few snowflakes and find out who the football players are.

Go Vols.

I agree our running plays are simple, and our routes are predictable.
And yet, our current roster can't even execute these properly. Our OC is calling plays for what he has to work with and that's it.

Until they can demonstrate an ability to execute the basics, let's stay with KISS method.

No idea. And that's a huge problem. A program with they budget, support and facilities shouldn't have a coach that has 0 track record.

There is nowhere near enough data to make a definitive statement. Some will and will be proven correct but at this it is simply a shot in the dark. However, early returns favor the votes that say he will fail.

He's been around enough top level coaches to have learned. Of course, you never know what someone will do with power until that person wields the scepter. I don't think he will fail us. I do think that he very likely needs more time to turn it around than what he will get. I may be wrong. Just how I see it.

Not enough info at this point. What I have seen concerns me. Right now we are worse than last year. We don't really know until Pruitt gets his guys in here. For now, all I can evaluate is what I see. I see bad play calling, no effort, and a bunch of quit. It's not a good look. Hopefully Pruitt's recruits respond better to what he is selling than this group.

I voted he'll succeed. It takes time. He has got to get his type of players on the roster. After 10 years I can wait. Patience is a virtue.

Ridiculous to give him anything other than a wait n see grade. It’s game 4 of year 1. If the problems were fixable in 9 months then we would’ve had coaches beating down our door to interview

Unless Phil steps down prematurely he'll get his chance to prove IMO.

Poll about 16 months too early.

Just seeing threads about Pruitt has lost the team, play calling, kicking whiteboards etc. lots of criticism and the performance last night earned this critique. So for those who I wanted to get the pulse of Volnation to see how people really felt.

I should have extended the poll for the remainder of the season. This way I could see how support for CJP changes during the course of the season.

I think Coach Pruitt has a lot to learn about head coaching. But, he can learn. We knew he wasn't coming in as a former head coach, so, we have to (or, at least, I have to) adjust expectations. Hard as heck, though.

I voted "not enough info to decide". He was unproven as a head coach when hired. I have concerns that he is not the guy through these first 4 games.
Unfortunately, i believe it is more likely he fails than succeeds. But it is very early in and too early to be emphatic.

Way too early to say for sure but these first 4 games couldn't have gone much worse. Even the cupcake games felt lackluster and flawed.
