i'll give it a try.
we don't have a mobile qb like fitz that can gash their front 7 like he did, so how do you take advantage of that apparent opportunity? i don't think JG is physical enough to do that for us, and i don't think we should ask him to.
but i do think Banks is plenty physical, and hopefully over the last week and thru this week he's done the work for the coaches to trust him with the ball in his hands to not put it on the ground. i think you could see a heavy dose of London and Banks.
the other thing is to get guys the ball in space behind that front 4...screens and slants to back them off. find a way to get the ball to Chandler in space. put two backs in there, two TE's...make the defense account for more than just getting to the QB or filling a gap to stop the run.
having said all that, that's the match up...their front 7 against our protection and blocking schemes. on paper, they should win that easily. we'll see how creative we get, and what we've done to address it? the blueprint for them is to do what FL did to us. and they're capable of doing it.
defensively, i think we all know what that offense is capable of, though we've not really seen it come to fruition this season. teams have frustrated and gotten to JS, and they've not been a great running team. this is a chance for our front 7 to assert itself....but, a lot like the FL game, you can put a lot of effort in to your defense against us, and just let the offense take advantage of the opportunities they provide with short fields and maybe some turnovers.
so on paper, this is probably another bad match up for us, where our defense likely can keep us in the game, but our offense likely shouldn't be able to do much against that front 7.
we'll need some help from Auburn to win this game, and we'll have to be able to count on a dejected, unmotivated team coming off a loss for an 11 a.m. kick, with a crowd that's just not all that enthusiastic and is just wating to boo Malzahn off the field.
siap, this game screams upset, or at least a game that Auburn just "gets thru" cause they are the better overall team. they can win this game, and no one be impressed or feel like they accomplished anything. in fact, they can win this game, and still feel as bad about themselves as they did when they left Starkville.
i'll say Auburn 24-16, and we're left wondering what might have happened had we turned a couple FG's in to TD's.......but happy with the effort, generally speaking.
