Let’s stop with the “Are we the worst team ever?” threads and start looking forward to another big Vols game. I think Tennessee shows up and plays well this Saturday. If we can get some big plays on offense I think our D keeps us in this game.
Game talk please, let’s keep it positive.
GO VOLS!

Are you thinking we show improvement because of the bye week?

I agree! I think we play a decent game against them. Will we come out on top? I am not sure but I dont think so considering our Offensive woes but any thing can happen on Saturday

Well that would be logical since we got an extra week to heal up and rest, no? Plus we have more practice under our belt. Agreed?

i'll give it a try.

we don't have a mobile qb like fitz that can gash their front 7 like he did, so how do you take advantage of that apparent opportunity? i don't think JG is physical enough to do that for us, and i don't think we should ask him to.

but i do think Banks is plenty physical, and hopefully over the last week and thru this week he's done the work for the coaches to trust him with the ball in his hands to not put it on the ground. i think you could see a heavy dose of London and Banks.

the other thing is to get guys the ball in space behind that front 4...screens and slants to back them off. find a way to get the ball to Chandler in space. put two backs in there, two TE's...make the defense account for more than just getting to the QB or filling a gap to stop the run.

having said all that, that's the match up...their front 7 against our protection and blocking schemes. on paper, they should win that easily. we'll see how creative we get, and what we've done to address it? the blueprint for them is to do what FL did to us. and they're capable of doing it.

defensively, i think we all know what that offense is capable of, though we've not really seen it come to fruition this season. teams have frustrated and gotten to JS, and they've not been a great running team. this is a chance for our front 7 to assert itself....but, a lot like the FL game, you can put a lot of effort in to your defense against us, and just let the offense take advantage of the opportunities they provide with short fields and maybe some turnovers.

so on paper, this is probably another bad match up for us, where our defense likely can keep us in the game, but our offense likely shouldn't be able to do much against that front 7.

we'll need some help from Auburn to win this game, and we'll have to be able to count on a dejected, unmotivated team coming off a loss for an 11 a.m. kick, with a crowd that's just not all that enthusiastic and is just wating to boo Malzahn off the field.

siap, this game screams upset, or at least a game that Auburn just "gets thru" cause they are the better overall team. they can win this game, and no one be impressed or feel like they accomplished anything. in fact, they can win this game, and still feel as bad about themselves as they did when they left Starkville.

i'll say Auburn 24-16, and we're left wondering what might have happened had we turned a couple FG's in to TD's.......but happy with the effort, generally speaking.

I think there were real positives against GA and some missed opportunities. I’m hoping TN can continue to show improvement and capitalize on some of the missed opportunities. If this happens they’re not that far off from being pretty good.

I am positive that Auburn losing the week before is not good for UT!
Probably real motivation to come out and prove it was a just a bad game for them

Yep. I think the bye week was a blessing for us. Some improvements seen against UGA and maybe they are able to build on those during the week off.
Really hope to see CJP field a squad who looks prepared for the whole game. Weve seen flashes of it in certain quarters but have yet to see a full 60 minutes.
One thing about CBJ he typically had good performances after periods of rest.

I don’t think auburn is as good as advertised and I think we can actually pull off a win if we play well on defense and convert in the red zone
feel like i saw this exact post...a lot....in the couple weeks prior tot he FL game......

the blueprint for them is to do what FL did to us.

At least 24 UF points came off of UT turnovers. 47 - 24 = 23. If the Vols do not fail to score on two wasted opportunities (fumble through end zone and fumble in the red zone), that's +14 points for the Vols. 21 + 14 = 35. Florida did not do anything "to" Tennessee. They took advantage of the Vols errors and scored. Tennessee lost that game more than Florida won it. A "blueprint" which replies upon Tennessee yielding 6 turnovers isn't a game plan.

I was at the UT-UF game. I witnessed it in person. Get over it. Move on.

If one wishes to forecast a Vols victory at Auburn, begin with no turnovers, no stupid penalties, execution at every position on every down. If this 2018 Tennessee team does that at Auburn, they have a chance to win.

you being there has nothing to do with it. lol.

i know what impact the turnovers, for and against, had.

i also know that FL's defense frustrated our offense all night. defensively, i think we played OK, and would have liked to have seen wha we could have done had we played them straight up.

but from a match up stand point (which is what i was talking about in relation to the Auburn match up...meaning i have moved on lol) Auburn's front 7 can/should/will present similar, if not stiffer, challenges than Florida's front 7.

You just keep on celebrating yourself, then. When you "misspeak yourself," tell everyone what you really meant. Laugh while you do.

So you disagree?
no. i thinkt he Auburn game is way more winnable today than i did a month ago.

just some similarities in how this game is being talked about now, when compared to how many (self included) felt about the UF game.
