That's an interesting idea, but what if they try to chest bump each other? They might explode or something.

He's an excellent recruiter.

The first year he was running backs coach Tennessee had two 1,000 yard backs for the first time IN SCHOOL HISTORY.

Last season, Foster had 879 yards in only 5 starts. Riggs in only 6 games had 530, on pace for over 1,000 when he went out.

This season....

Just how special has wide receiver Robert Meachem’s junior season been? He set a school record for receiving yards in a season with 1,265. He became just the sixth Vol ever to total more than 2,000 career receiving yards. His 11 touchdowns are the third-most ever by a UT receiver in a single season. And his average of 105.4 receiving yards per game ranks first in the Southeastern Conference and third in NCAA Division I-A.

Seniors Jayson Swain and Bret Smith have 604 and 453 receiving yards this season, respectively while combining for 11 TDs ... Starting TE Chris Brown ranks fourth on the team with 24 catches this year ... Tennessee averages 264.2 passing yards per game and 13.3 yards per catch this season. LAST season under another coach, the receivers averaged 198 yards per game and only 11.7 per catch.

Try again.

I'd say the turn around and the performance of the recievers is more attributable to Cut coming back than Trooper.

Cut finally got Ainge straightened out after last year's debacle, and it's paid off in the passing game.

I'd say the turnaround is that Trooper made them work their azzes off and run until they puked. They were acting like primadonnas last year, worried about their stats and such, not running the right routes, not laying out for the ball, not run blocking, etc... Now, 180 degree turn around. Why? Trooper.

I don't think he's that great of a coach,
Last year he coached running backs, and we went 5-6, and had no one close to a 1000 yards, Arian Foster had 870.

This year only Meachem has done anything as a reciever.

I'm not up to speed on his recruiting, but maybe he can recruit Texas since he was at Baylor..

This might be the dumbest, most ignorant post I've ever seen here.

No way, Trooper has had a bigger impact on the team, than bringing Cut back.

Sorry, I never said that. It was a cumulative total effect, getting rid of Pat Washington and moving Trooper to WR, and getting rid of Randy Sanders and bringing Cutcliffe back. Cutcliffe had a bigger impact overall, as we now practice to perfection and precision, instead of going through the motions. But you can't deny what Trooper has done. Also, look at the kids Trooper has gotten for us in recruiting. The $500k thing is a little silly, but we need to do something, or we will lose him like we did Rodney Garner.
