He has brought the level of the program up- no one but a moron can dispute it. He beat the Gators and Georgia in the same year ( and Va Tech) -how long since that happened? He has earned the right to try to fix this mess. I am as upset as any fan ( being going to the game for 50 years) and if I could have gotten close to Butch Sat night, He would have heard some ugly words. That said, we have come from a joke to a respectable program because if his efforts. With a new OC and some discipline added to the team, we may be still able to save this progress. All I am saying is: " give Butch a chance". Do we Really want to start over once again?

The next few games will tell us a lot about Butch's future. If he loses another to Vandy, Kentucky, or Mizzou, he has lost control of the team

If he gets a good offensive coordinator and let's him run the offense, everything will smooth over.

He's invested into UT. He just needs to get out if his own way.

My question is, do we have any big time HC's knocking down our door to coach here? Do we have anybody in line to replace Butch if we were to fire him? It takes big money to get a big time coach but guess what? Our AD won't pony up the cash so what makes you think we'll have a better coach than Butch? Our fans want to think ahead too much.

He is way to hard headed to change. He will go down like Les because of his stubbornness. His finesse offense is never gonna win in the sec.

. . .Our AD won't pony up the cash so what makes you think we'll have a better coach than Butch? . . .

The choice to drop $10 million to buy out butch and then double the annual salary of the football coach goes well beyond the AD. And, of course, you have to actually have the money to pay it out.

Butch has had 8 chances to right the ship so far this year. Each game with it's slow start, lack of focus, anemic OL play, lack of ball security, and undisciplined penalties was a sign that the ship was taking on water and nothing effective was done. Now when water starts creeping into the first class cabins, people suddenly want to "give him a chance"??????

Really?

You are absolutely right about Les. I met him once and he is a very likable guy, but he would not change his offense and LSU got tired of the wasted talent . There are many similarities.

You can change the OC 20 different times and you're going to get the same results. This is Butch's system, he said it again today he believes in his system. So with that being said: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein

Really?

Who you gonna get to replace him? Lots of guys ( Charlie Strong was one) turned us down last time. Be careful what you wish for. I will agree that the effort and attention-span of this team are troubling. The SC game was sickening- where is the pride on this team?

I agree that he can smooth things over, but he has given us zero hope that he will actually do the things that it will take, like hiring a true OC and giving the offense to them.

If we fire him now we get to save the progress and don't have to start over. If we let him continue to drive the program into the ground like we let Dooley do, then we will have to completely rebuild again. It's a faulty argument that we have to start at zero if UT fires him. None of this matters anyway because we have a lame duck AD who will be more than happy to leave this mess to the next AD. Butch can lose the rest of the games this year and rest assured that he won't be fired.

This is the same system used by Clemson and Louisville- they make it work pretty well.

There are no more meaningful games left in which Butch can redeem himself. We are supposed to trounce our remaining opponents. It's not like he can Re-defeat Florida and make this stuff OK.

How do you know we didn't? Other than Muschamp and possibly Cutcliffe, we really don't know who the applicants were. One thing for sure is that an AD like Doug Dickey would have had a handle on where to go looking, and clueless bean counters go in for talent searches.

If I were a preeminent coach at another school, I'd certainly be far more impressed by a respected AD (probably ex-coach) reaching out to me than being approached by a dating service.

It isn't insanity if you do the same thing over and over and it works. So if it works for those guys, then it must be the coaches, which means they just can't cut it. We have the talent, and if the scheme works, that means the coaches are the issue.
