Gingrich "catastrophic collapse of trust in Republicans"

This would be the smart thing to do right now. More and more republicans are becoming disenfranchised with the party now. We need a good fiscally conservative rep. right now and unfortunately there is none to be found.

I like Newt, and I agree with him about most things, but after the Regan comment and the Pelosi commercial, I'm kind of wondering what's happened.

Heard him on Hannity today, and he was taking McCain to task over his comments about "needing comprehensive immigration reform"... in other words, McCain-Kennedy again, after he said he wouldn't push that again. I may create a thread about that later.

The only tenets I will sign up for on the Republican platform are 1) fiscal responsibility, 2) strong defense for the country, and 3) strict enforcement of immigration laws and complete control of our borders. I really do not care for the ultra conservative social legislation that has become identified with the Republican party.

I'm not really sure where you're getting that. Half of the R's don't even fall into the 3 categories you just listed anymore.

Gingrich was better before he started using his opinions to peddle his stuff.

Surprised he has time to issue such an opinion. I mean surely he has more commercials to make with Pelosi telling me the climate change story.

IMO Gingrich is positioning himself for a "I told you so" when the Republicans lose big in November. Which IMO they will.

I think it would be good for the Republican party to lose, maybe they will rethink their positions, and return to the beliefs that got them control of the White House and Congress in the first place. Unfortunately, the democrats haven't seemed to have learned a lot during their time as the minority party.
