WV 's success is riding on their QB and receiving corp.
Their defense is gonna be what hurts them, their schedule and they had turnover problems on offense. They averaged over a turnover more per game than what they caused defensively. They averaged 460 yards on offense per game and gave up 446 a game on Defense. Also #50 SOS. They are very average running the ballTheir offense wasn't near as potent when they played the better and more physical Defense's. They were #22 in scoring offense and #90 in scoring defense.
They padded their stats vs the horrible teams and Defense's on their schedule.
W-56 pts vs 3-9 E.Car #130 scoring Def
W-59 pts vs Delaware St a Div 2 team
W-56 pts vs 1-11 Kansas #129 Scoring D W-46pts vs 6-7 Tex Tech #100 scoring D
W-38 pts vs 1-11 Baylor #114 scoring D
L 39 pts vs 10-3 Ok St #85 scoring D
Against the #85,#114,#100,#129,#130 score Def they avg 49 PPG..I'm not going to count their games Grier didn't start or play in.
Against the #4 Score Def V.Tech they scored 24 and L, #16 score Def TCU they scored 24, #26 score Def Iowa St they scored 20, and #30 score Def Texas they scored 14. So versus 4 top 30 and 1 top 50 they averaged 22 PPG.
While they have a good passing offense, it's very misleading when you really look at each game. They are not a top #25 team or even an 8 win team if those trends continue this yr. Just a different perspective on our 1st opponent.
